We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the service and support provided, by Pauline Henry. Acute & Community Liaison Nurse, who made sure that the plan for the gentleman who is in our care, and has a learning disability, went smoothly and ensuring that the aftercare was in place, after his surgery. Pauline Henry was there for support, after the gentleman's discharge from South Tyneside hospital as we had a few issues, but with Pauline Henry's professionalism and guidance, these issues were quickly resolved. Pauline Henry certainly went the extra mile and beyond, given she is a one person team. We would personally like to say , a sincere and personal big thank you, to Pauline Henry ,and also to the staff on ward 1 surgical ward who looked after Paul . Kind regards Joanna & David Penny
Dragged all the way to this hospital and they hadn't even got me down for the scan to locate patency capsule, me and my partner were just left with trainee staff and they basically just waited until they all wanted to go home on Friday at 5pm before sending me out with the patency capsule, which is now stuck in my small bowel, haven't been able to go to the toilet since taking it, I was told the whole point of having to go to South Tyneside which is a 3 hour journey was because if the patency capsule got stuck in a bad place? It would need surgery to be removed! My small bowel is the bad place, all scans have revealed this! The only good thing I can say about this hospital is it was much cleaner than Carlisle. As for treatment and care? The trainee lad was lovely and the Doctor but never seen the IBD nurse? No apology for wasting our time and I've been calling her for nearly 4 weeks and she's never responded! Not good enough. I've been to 3 different hospital trust's now and wish I had something positive to say about them all but unfortunately, I've had nothing but lies, neglect and it appears that all NHS department's are the same, they're badly managed, no communication between other departments, not enough qualified staff. Also they don't have suitable food for patient's on a stomach and bowel ward either. There was no food in the cafe either for my partner. Bring back the good old days where a Matron ran the ward because it's an absolute shambles these day's. And to add insult to injury, they have sent us a fine for trying to locate the disabled parking, we asked 2 nurses where we could find disabled parking? The nurses said we could park where we were, the sign said it was a staff car park? we had entered this car park because there was absolutely nothing explaining what disabled driver's are meant to do to register their vehicle, my partner dropped me off near main reception and moved to a different car park as he wasn't happy with the information we were given, I couldn't have walked from the car park miles away as I couldn't breathe. Now they've got the cheek to fine us £70? I registered my vehicle at reception upon entry once I'd got my breath back! I never want to see this hospital again after everything that has happened this past few weeks with them!
A&E The GP requested we take my 90 year old dad to hospital as she wasn’t happy following her examination. We went to A&E, which was so busy it was standing room only a lot of the time. He had bloods and an ECG within a couple of hours, then we waited and waited and waited. Not the most comfortable of places for anyone never mind a 90 year old. By the time he was admitted we had waited just over 9 hours, sat in the waiting area the whole time, apart from 45 minutes at the end, when he was given a trolley to lie on, in one of the little rooms. Terrible
2 stars for the lad and the doctor.. 1 star for hygiene...no stars for the IBD nurses, I'm taking this complaint right to the top after today after the way my sick partner was treated, you didn't even have her down on system for the patency capsule scan, you also didn't have the decency to apologise and let that poor young lad take the fall for your mistakes as my partner was distressed and unwell.. Dr Aly said he would do the scan but you insisted otherwise?.. And after that news report on North West about so many bowel diseases and people not coming forward to your hospital... Pure lies, cover ups and negligence again.. I'm now naming the lot of you concerned since day 1, in 3 different hospital trusts now and the lot of you involved in this disgusting treatment, I'm making a full report once I've got the medical evidence and more proof. I'm even contacting my own union because we are considering legal action now... Saying people aren't coming forward... Absolute lies and blame the patient mentality... 5 year's of battling bowel disease and you are claiming people aren't doing anything?? Strange that everyone I know has experienced the same disgusting treatment that my partner has.. no communication, they never return calls and waste your time making you drive 3 hours for a scan that could be done 20mins away.. who's paying the £90 diesel and 2 day's loss of wages at time and a half on Friday? And also to pay a dog sitter and someone to sort the kids... Expect a complaint IBD team. This has gone on long enough now, we have every scrap of evidence. Hope you've all got your ducks in a row!!!
The A&E are top notch starting from the black British woman that welcome us as a family to wonderful Nurses and Doctor's that observe my wife that was pregnant and she is having pains. Am proud of this hospital
Took my granddaughter after she went over on her ankle and it immediately turned black and blue still not seen after 4 hours. There was a grand total of 2 other patients In the department. How long does it take to triage each patient?? 20 mins???. Left without being seen. Disgraceful, 6 years old
Attended Endoscopy Unit today and had gastrostomy and biopsy, all staff were professional and friendly. Although busy department I was constantly being reassured by nurses when receiving treatment. Thank you so much
Attended A&E early hours of 17.07.2022 with a serious jaw infection/sepsis due to a botched wisdom tooth removal at the RVI. The night shift staff here were absolutely outstanding! I was seen very quickly and given IV morphine/antibiotics etc and a bed before being transferred. I’ve been in plenty of hospitals over the years and I can’t say I’ve ever felt this comfortable and welcome. The staff that worked night shift that night deserve a raise. Haven’t met such friendly happy people in years. Can I also add that the place was spotless, considering it had been busy that Saturday night.
Been for mri scan today appointment was on time staff was great and professional no problems
Arrived at A&E 9am with injured ankle and by 11am I'd seen a nurse, orthopedic doctor and been diagnosed with a ruptured achilles tendon. I had to return at 3pm for a CT scan to confirm this then have a boot fitted. By 4pm I was back home with follow up appointments. Thank you for the excellent service from start to finish.
