About

"Sodaeng" is a new Korean Restaurant with the Chef who worked at Shilla for 9 years. Shilla is the first Korean restaurant in Scotland(Glasgow&Edinburgh).

Story

Korean Restaurant 'SODAENG' is in Old town, Edinburgh.

Traditionally, cauldron called 'Gamasot' were used in Korea for cooking.

Gamasot were large iron pots, and one advantage of this equipment is that it is able to keep the food warm for a long time.

This meant that it was a very useful cooking equipment in Korea, where rice and soup are the main dishes.

'Sodaeng' is a pure Korean word for 'Sottukkeong', the lid of Gamasot.

We have called our restaurant 'Sodaeng' to be a restaurant that base our food in Korean traditions, and study the food to allow people to enjoy our proud Korean cuisine.

We promise to offer our customers the great and unchanging taste of Korean cuisine.

I've been picking up a lot of bibimbap from here during quarantine. It's delicious, fresh and fairly priced. The service is always so warm and welcoming. I love it!

Both me and my friend had symptoms like food poisoning after ate their cuisine - bibimbap and chicken depo. Stomachache + almost vomiting + Diarrhea so will never come back. Un fresh food and oil.

Good food but a little bit small portion.
Love this korean restaurant. They have great hotpot that can be shared with two people and varieties of meals and side dishes. The food also is tasty although it's a bit expensive compared to other Korean restaurants around that area. But it's a nice place to experience true Korean dishes.
