It's like walking through the countryside, except the countryside is continually steep for 4 hours and the sheep play by their own rules. If you are thinking of arriving after 9am and hoping to find a parking space you are in for a surprise, and not a good one.
Absolute fantastic views, Snowdon is a fantastic walk there's many different routes you can go weather it is by the train which you need to book in advance or be disappointed, the route from lanberis or the other more extreme routes, well worth doing make sure you take plenty of snacked and water as you need it. Once you get to the top the views are stunning, We were lucky as the clouds cleared just enough to see a clear view around absolute stunning, highly requemend.
Really enjoyed the route up to the summit of Snowdon. Set off at 8:00am to get a little ahead of the crowds and found that was well worth it. Some challenging parts of the route but perfectly doable for the inexperienced hiker with patience, snacks and layers! Would do it again for sure. The views are fantastic on the way up and, I'm sure, at the summit - it was pure cloud when I got there. It was very windy and very cold at the top - about a 16 degree difference from the temperature at Llanberis so make sure you take suitable clothing accordingly!
It was such a great hike. One of the best trails I've been to in the UK. The terrain is not too steep and not too easy. It took about 4 and a half hours to get to the top from the based. Mostly because I was with a group. The wind can be very very strong at certain points and in some cases can feel at if you'll be blown away. If you're a nature and mountain lover this is absolutely the best bet for you.
Wow what a day. Highly recommend to climb . We went on the miners track up which took 3 hours 30 minutes , 3.5 miles and was flat, steep, flat, steep and then steeeeeeeep for 90 minutes up. Climbing rocks ect. But the views were amazing of the lakes and waterfalls. Got great pictures of us at the monument with no que. Train wasn't working so started the walk down Llanberis path which took 2 hours 30 minutes and this was a steady decent which was 5 miles. We went at 1pm and most people were coming down so wasn't busy at the top. There is a cafe half way down the Llanberis path but again was closed. Great scenes of the mountains on the way down and lots of sheep. Don't park at pen y pass as its £40 per car. There are lots of park and ride car parks around which costs us £5 to park the £3 return on the bus which came every 15 minutes. Don't wear mesh trainers where solid footwear. Lots of water and warm clothes you can take off whilst climbing but back on once your at the top as it's freezing. Take chocolate or sweets as you need sugar.
August 2022. I can not be different with my opinion about Snowdon. Beautiful! The summit itself is very rewarding but just climbing it was another joy for eyes. Fantastic views! I know that there are many ways to get to the summit but I found mine very impressive and not totally exhausting although it was tiring. I started from Pen-y-pass, then quite easy and relaxing but nice Miners way then joining Pygs route and next very popular way from Llanberis leading to Snowdon. Return way to Llanberis was very long and boring comparing to first route but relatively easy. When thinking about getting to Snowdon do not think it is stroll or walk to any hill, think about it as ascending the mountain even if it is not very high. Sandals, small dogs, little children walking by themselves and looking very tired at the beginning of the path. Take train in this case at the moment not to the very top. One more thing. Rubish. Please take it with you if you have any. People from National Park have to climb two times a week to collect people's rubish hidden under stones anamong plants. Snowdonia is beautiful so let's enjoy being in this corner of the world!
I hiked the snowdon in May. It was quite cold, windy and rainy on the day. While the weather was good, amazing views, loads of people there. Not an easy terrain to hike but i totally loved it.
Simply one of the most beautiful places in the UK in my opinion a fair few different ways of accessing the summit whether it's by the easy route the train or the adrenaline lovers route Crib Goch. Absolutely breathtaking scenery especially if you can catch a good sunrise Never saw any litter on our travels, great place to propose like I did and luckily she said yes
What an amazing mountain to climb iv done they’re different paths over the last three weeks, the Watkins path, Crib goch, and llanberis path, all have stunning views in every direction, even a nice lake to have a dip in on the way back down won the pyg track.
There are 6 trails up Snowdon, we chose the Llanberis route. This is the easiest and longest of the 6 routes. Distance to the summit and back is 9 miles and the total climb is 975m which will take around 7 hours, however I managed it in 6 hours. There are numerous car parks in the area so plenty of options. Be warned the weather can change quickly when ascending Snowdon. Take waterproofs with you and good walking boots. Also pack some food and drink. There is a cafe half way up but it has limited food. Unfortunately there are no toilets along the route so bear this in mind. Snowdonia gets very busy during Summer months so getting there early is recommended as parking will be an issue.
