One of my favourite places on the Crystal Palace triangle, the ribs are simply delicious. This place is closely associated with the restaurant next door, The Crystal Palace Market, but it has a different menu and opening hours. The menu has primarily got ribs, burgers and chickens, and I've so far only had the ribs in my few visits there although I tried a bite of the half chicken and it was so lemony and succulent. As the picture shows, it's a huge portion and the BBQ sauce is perfection - especially when chips are dipped in it. The decor is tasteful and atmospheric, and the service is fine although on one visit it was oddly slow - it took over half an hour to take away the finished dishes. Overall, this is well worth visiting if you're in the area - even if you're further away, I'd say the ribs are worth a journey for...
Beautifully presented restaurant on the Westow House corner of the Triangle. This is more of a wine bar that does food, the proper full on restaurant is next door. We came here for oysters and champagne only and it was amazing. Service was professional and really friendly. Will definitely come back.
Potential to be great. To be so they need to pay attention to actually delivering on what is advertised, as well as consistency and price/quality. We ordered the beef burgers which were excellent however missed several items including cheese, onion relish and the green side with carrot as advertised. We ordered via Deliveroo. The fries were not the same as pictured in other reviews, which we'd had before. This time they were thick, mushy and oily all the way through, with the oil tasting like it had been sat in the frier for too long. Disappointing this time around, and especially for the price.
The positive was that the food was good. We ended up having to eat burgers as there were no BBQ sauce, so a bit disappointing on that front. However, the beef brisket burger I had was a bit of a miss for me. The service was bad. Our drinks order was messed up, which isn't the end of the world, but every order at every table had something wrong with it. A table was ignored. When we paid the bill, it was split between us and the amounts was put through without the pence value. Another waitress then asked for the 14p difference when they noticed the difference. A bit of a cheek when you think that they charged a 10% service fee which is voluntary. I'd give this restaurant a miss next time I'm in Crystal Palace.
Beef brisket burger was tasteless and very disappointing. The waiting staff didn't know what they were doing. My coffee arrived cold, cause it was sitting on the counter waiting to be picked up, I asked for water twice and never got it. They were really surprised when I asked for the service charge to be removed from my bill. I will not be coming back. On the plus side, the pricer beef brisket from the menu was lovely and the place is decorated beautifully.
Went on Saturday night at 7.00. The restaurant was empty but I fancied a burger so gave it a go. The burger wasn't bad but was tiny and completely uninspiring. My wife had the chicken which she found extremely dry so left half of it. The quality of the food explained why the restaurant was empty. We certainly will not be going back.
There was definitely an opening for this kind of place in Crystal Palace so we were delighted when they opened as we have been to the Crystal Palace Market next door a number of times and really enjoyed it. We have been here a few times now. The decor is really rustic and fits well and there is a great selection of drinks. We have had some hit and miss with the food. The food is good, it isn't amazing. Every time we have been here it hasn't ever been busy but the service is slow. It doesn't bother us as we are never in a hurry when we go there and the food is super filling so good to have a break but I am not sure how they would cope if every table was full. It has also been very cold in there each time we have been, I understand the kitchen is open to the dining area etc but consideration to customer comfort would not go astray. All in all we would continue to go back but this place could really do with some TLC from the owners in terms of the food and maybe take note of their customers feedback because I do think if they nailed the food they would do really well on the triangle.
Average. The bone was there. But the smoke was missing big time. The beef rib was old and dry. The pickled red cabbage was bitter rather than pickled. Would I go there again? No. Would I recommend it? No. It looks lovely but that's not enough for me.
Great place for lunch and dinner. Great tea and coffee which is hard to find altogether in one place.
We stopped here for ribs on Monday for ribs, only to find out that there were no ribs as they ran out of BBQ sauce. No worry, we ordered burgers and drinks instead. 50% of the drinks order was wrong, despite clarifying clearly what was needed, and also they forgot some of the food. We weren't too bothered until I noticed that every other table had issues. One didnt get their food at all, the others had food missing and random things delivered. Really shocking. Can't imagine this place will be around for long given how shockingly badly it is run. Certainly wont be visiting there again.
