We had been visiting the National Trust, Old Court House in Long Crendon and decided to see what we could find in Thame on the way home. We saw the Six Bells and from the outside it looked like just we were looking for. We we go inside we weren’t disappointed and decided to stay for a light snack. We chose a duck pate starter and a small beer each. The pate was served promptly and was delicious. I would definitely recommend the Six Bells in Thame.
The place is absolutely fantastic, friendly staff and really good food. 12oz steak was good quality and perfectly cooked. Sticky toffee pudding exactly how it should be. Would I visit this place again, absolutely yes.
Stopped by on our way to a spa weekend for lunch, the pub has parking in the back so very convenient if you’re driving past. Delicious food and great vibe ! we had a mix if bar snacks & coffee with deserts. Everything was great quality. Definitely will be coming again
I always really enjoy my experience here. The staff is friendly and attentive, the menu is varied and offers lovely vegan and vegetarian nut roasts on Sundays, and the drinks menu is varied. There is always a nice vibe. Dogs are welcome from what I've seen. My only suggestion would be to include a baby changing station.
Just not great. Limited menu, feels like it’s trying to be too fancy. We ordered the charcuterie board but it was very dry. I have the trout salad to start which was very small and my friend had the burger which was okay but all in all we did not feel that we received value for money. It’s a shame as the pub is really lovely
Been here many times. Beautiful atmosphere and good food and service. Had Sunday lunch which was great. Perhaps a little pricey for someone used to cheaper prices in mid Wales but competitive for Oxford area.
Staff were very nice and the ambiance is also good: open fires, candles etc, very cosy. But we got inedible bread as our starter and had to wait nearly an hour for our main course. My steak was cooked as requested but had not been rested and was very bloody. My wife's mushroom bourginion felt like a ready meal.
We enjoyed a convivial evening here. The meal was fine and not too expensive. A reasonable sized car park to the rear. Thame is a lovely town. If you've never visited there, please do so.
The food and atmosphere Is really nice as are the staff that serve. My only complaint is when you ask for house wine and are charged £13 a glass, not sure we will be rushing back with wine prices like this, other pubs in Thame are much cheaper
Outstanding pub. Wonderful food. Sunday dinner is a must. On my 1st visit It was like I was a local - my mother is. In Thame which has a main part in the Midsomer Murder Story - even Morse not look out of place eating there.
