**WARNING** Do not overstay by any length of time or you WILL be fined. This carpark has cameras that record entry/exit times of the vehicle. If you wait in your vehicle for someone feeling safe because no attendant has been round you will nevertheless be recorded as an overstay by the camera on exit and fined. If you have to wait a few minutes leave the carpark first and pull over safely nearby.
Narrow, and sometimes short, spaces but OK if careful and considerate. Saw a number of people letting the passengers out before taking their bay. Better to be safe than sorry. Cash or app PayByPhone payment taken.
Can't review with no stars!! Paid and displayed on a Sunday and got a fine 2 weeks later. Keep hold of your tickets!!! Won't be using that one again!!
Pick your parking space carefully. Very little room to reverse out. I had 2 big cars each side and had a hell of a job getting out. Payment machines are cash on one side, cash and contactless on the other. Toilets on site.
Great location for visiting Glastonbury, just behind the high street, handy for the abbey and a mile or so , upwards, towards the tor. Reasonably priced online and coins, but not contactless. £2.50 for 4 hours.
Got a £160 fine for literally turning my car in this car park when I dropped my dog off at the groomers opposite. I already pay for private parking in the town as I have my own business here so I have absolutley no need to park in this car park at all. The camera caught me going in obviously, when I merely turned around and then when I returned to pick the dog up 45 minutes later I turned around in there again and it caught my number plate leaving so obviously must have assumed I had parked in the car park. I tried to explain what had happened and was threatened with court action and a CCJ. According to the carpark companys reviews online, they will take anyone to court and do anything to drag your name through the mud. As I run a busy business already in the town and did not have the time to continue fighting this, I had no alternative but to pay the fine. I would seriously warn everyone not to merely turn your car around in this carpark or you will receive a hefty fine too. I'm not the only local person this has happened to either. It has happened on numerous occasions. A sign needs to be erected to warn others before they face the same fate also
This car park always used to be our favourite. So I’m still going to give it the five stars. This is because it’s right in the centre of the town. It is ideal for most people’s needs. However they now have this new way of billing people for the car park charge. Basically you have to download an app to your phone and put your credit card details remember your car registration number. That’s if you can get a mobile Phone signal. This is very frustrating and of course some local people to be critical of the way that it is now run so you may see some notices around the place expressing their feelings.
Consumers beware - Bad experience after using this car park. I paid in full and did not overstay, but still received a £60 fine through the post from Britannia parking who said that I had not entered my reg number correctly. None of the carpark signs said that you had to, and the keys on the ticket machine were sticking but it still took my payment and issued a ticket, though it only printed the first character of my reg. Britannia rejected my appeal saying that I had violated their terms & conditions by not purchasing a valid ticket with my full and correct reg printed on it issued by their machine!. They started sending me threatening demands for payment now for £100 + potential bailiff costs if I did not give in and 'pay now' despite the fact that I was within the 28 day timeframe to further appeal to the Parking On Private Land Association. This carpark is owned by Glastonbury Abbey. It was only after spending literally days researching the law and pulling my 24 page defence together that the cowards did not contest my appeal after I submitted it to POPLA. They had the nerve to cite the reason as a 'gesture of good will'. No, they tried the numbers game and I fought back too hard for them to bother. You can see from the image above how hated Britannia are. Apparently the whole carpark signs and ticket machine have been vandalised on 3 occassions since the beginning of 2019. I would say that until the Abbey kick this contractor to the kurb I will not be parking there again. I wondered why the carpark was nearly empty. Now I know! If you do want to park there, keep yout ticket for at least 3 weeks afterwards so you have evidence of payment as Britannia refused to look up my transaction in their records, and still kept my money!
Nice car park, central location for town and Abbey
I would avoid at all costs. Britannia Parking who operate the site on behalf of Glastonbury Abbey are scammers who will pursue extortionate demands if you are only a few seconds over time.
