So, my beloved, for she is, and I were stuck in non moving traffic on the A30, so I did a U turn, went for a wee drive and came across this stunning and historical pub in an equally stunning and charming village called Upottery. The staff were lovely as was the atmosphere and a nice bottle of Rioja we purchased. The menu looked devine, so hopefully the taste would match the place but unfortunately we had to be on our way and not sample the food. Will for sure be returning on our next journey up or down to bonny Cornwall.
Best pub food we’ve had in years! We often review places and it can be easy to be negative! Not here. Mushroom starter was incredibly tasty, lasagna delicious and sundae delightful. It all seemed to be home cooked by someone who just knows how to make flavours spring out at you. Good service too. Young, cheerful people! We’re on holiday here and will definitely be going back soon! Oh and very dog friendly… nice places usually are.
We went for lunch. Second time in as many months and have to say it’s brilliant. Staff are amazing, food was piping hot and perfect and also did a great Gluten Free selection as I’m ceoliac. Overall well worth a visit if you are in the area. Dog friendly also. Great pub thank you.
I had a lovely meal here, the welcome was really warm and friendly. The staff were very dog friendly. Food was lovely and well priced. Best steak pie I’ve had for a long time. Brilliant service. A genuinely great village pub. Had I been staying longer I’d have returned a few more times! I felt bad, I left my cash at home so couldn’t leave a tip that the staff deserved!
The pub is located in a stunning little village. The restaurant was busy when we went on a Saturday night but the staff were fantastic and the food was second to none!!! Honestly, the best Steak and Guineas pie I have had in a very very long time!!
There arn’t many pubs left like this. Fantastic, honest pub food with really reasonable prices. PROPER HOMEMADE BURGER. Loads of character in the pub with a different area for everyone. Child friendly and wonderful staff. Highly recommend. We will be back!
Stayed in the area and spotted this pub. Lovley look from the outside. Food and drink was reasonably priced and good selection. Unfortunately I did get very sick food poisoning after my food here, burger very undercooked and pulled pork was cold. Staff OK but not overly welcoming.
We had amazing food and there was a really nice proper pub atmosphere. They catered for a group of 30 plus and all the food came out promptly and was all top quality and really helpful staff. Highly recommend to anyone
Stopped to get out of traffic and found this lovely country pub. Good beer and food. Best rump steak I have had in ages with a nice pint of Otter bitter
Went to the Sidmouth Arms for lunch, they had a lovely log burner going which gives a lovely atmosphere. There was a good menu choice and the food excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Sidmouth Arms is in the village of Upottery and there is lots of Ww2 history and it featured in the series Band of Brothers. Well worth a visit.
