Shugborough is a c980 acre property with a good mix of formal garden, parkland and a working farm. The house and grounds are open to the public. The National Trust took over management of the property in late 2016, reopening it in spring 2017; they've made incredible progress most visible in the formal gardens, especially the walled gardens. New children's play area installed, including a great trip wire. Cafe available in the stable yard and full restaurant adjacent to the mansion. Some locals unhappy about loss of 'small animal' feature - but the benefits of the new presentation are much better. Beautiful walks alongside the river and through the arboretum. Staff & volunteers very helpful. Allow a couple of hours to explore.

Great walks in the grounds. Due to the National Trust having recently taken over there isn't a lot to see in the house as they are in process of changing things. Also the Lichfield rooms are now by timed ticket only entrance.

Fantastic place to visit, staff really friendly, lots of grounds for the kids to run around in the summer

Love the free bits, lovely walks down to Canal etc. But who can afford a National Trust membership? #pricedout
