Lovely place, unfortunately we have had bad weather and the mud was horrendous, wouldn't stop me coming again, we stayed in our caravan, it was a temporary holiday site with the camping and caravan club.
Really nice place to visit very picturesque lots of little shops and some nice pubs, cheap parking £1.80 for 24 hrs. Would recommend this little village plenty of hiking opportunities too Brimham Rocks within hiking distance.
I think things have changed since some of the earlier reviews. The parking now relies on an honesty box and has reasonable charges of £1 for 4 hours, £2 for the day.
There was no ticket machine installed when we visited so we tried to pay via the app. Battled through several app crashes and error messages, finally thought payment had gone through card details accepted and showed us a success screen but then a few days later we received a Penalty Charge Notice through the post they have numberplate recognition.nnTurns out their broken app 1.3 stars on app store only charged our card £0.01 then refunded it ! rather than taking the full amount. Don't risk using the app.nnThe company that manages the car park are horrible to deal with, zero leeway in spite of evidence from the bank to show there was a good faith attempt to pay.nnNidderdale Agricultural Society who own the site were very helpful though in arranging for the PCN to be cancelled.
Spacious car park. You have to pay £1 for 4 hours parking or £2 for 24 hours parking in an honesty box as the most recent reviewer said. Plenty of space, enough for 30 cars I'd say. Public toilets and the high street are around the corner.nnMy only problem is that it's not explicitly clear if the car park gates are shut at any point. They were still open at 17:30 on a Wednesday evening.
