Very polite and friendly staff. A nice atmosphere, classic pub experience, but with a modern twist. The portions were a little small, but they were well priced and delicious. Everything was clearly freshly cooked and came out piping hot. I'll definitely be returning here!
We often go to chef and brewer restaurants as it is the only option according to our taste we can eat out with our tesco vouchers. Usually the atmosphere is good. But this Shire horse has won and beat the rest by far. Our favourite was the chefs specials menu which allowed us a surprisingly different experience than the other restaurants. The staff is by far the most friendly and professional of any of the other ones we have been to. Loves the fire place and the music xx thanks. Will be back soon
A bit unprepared for an event evening Burns Night, so didn't have all the items on the menu and the service started a little slow. However, the guy who served our table later had us all laughing and was very helpful.
We came to the reopening weekend of the Shire Horse after its refurb and I must say they have done a wonderful job, the pub has been given a brand new lease of life. Straight away we were greeted by a hugely smiley team and welcomed back to the pub and shown to our table. Drinks and food orders were swiftly taken and starters arrive in really good time. My mother and I shared the sharing starter and the portion size was amazing and I would hugely recommend. Then moving on to mains, we all had a roast dinner because it was as Sunday as you must! I had the rib of beef and all I can say is excellent!!! I was struggling to finish it because of how big it was, incredible value for money! We finished with a couple of drinks and puddings and these did not disappoint either. Lastly I want to say a huge thank you to Jay, Thomas and Connor for the excellent service and a really lovely meal. We will certainly be back!
We visited tonight for my daughters birthday. She is 12 but absolutely loves steak! given the choice of anywhere to eat this is her absolute fav so we booked a table of 10. Not one of us was disappointed the food was amazing and please let the chef know the steak was cooked perfectly. There was only 2 lads serving wish I had asked for their names but they were both 5 star and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for such a lovely night. Natalie
Love this pub! It's old and full of character. We had such a lovely waitress called Sam Samantha who just took the time to answer all questions and was just so friendly and welcoming. All the staff we had were so lovely. The food is so good I had the mushroom pie and it was so tasty and I also went for a dessert as enjoyed the pie so much and the place just feels so cozy and inviting. The decor is in keeping with the pub. The toilet's were clean and the table's were clean. If you want good service and a hearty meal this is the place to come too.
I popped in for a midweek lunch with my daughter and boyfriend. we were served by Connor and Stanley I think service was great and very friendly. They were incredibly busy, however this didn't effect the standard of customer service or quality of food. Keep up the good work, I'm new to the area and will most definitely be revisiting your restaurant. Thank you
Had a lovely meal and catch up with the girls here. To start there is a large easily accessible carpark. We were welcomed in by a friendly waitress. Had a main and dessert with a midweek meal deal. Food was pretty good. Came fairly quickly and was freshly prepared. The restaurant was clean, well kept and run. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Good covid precautions were in place.
This will always be my favourite restaurant, I love the fact I can go for a nice walk and end it here. The staff are always lovely, great food and at a great price. Super exited to have them back open and see what they have done to the place!
Service from Sam was fantastic. Friendly and did a great job with our order and looking after us. The roast dinners were incredible. Probably the best roast I’ve had at a restaurant. Great selection of beers and portions were great and pricing was very reasonable. I loved my brownie infused with caramel - was the best brownie I’ve ever had. Loved the extras Yorkshire pudding with meat. Meats were all so tender and flavoursome. Pork had such crispy crackling and lots of it. Chicken wings sauce was so tasty too. Really enjoyed our meal. My mother and father in law from Australia said it was one of the best meals they had all holiday and were very happy. Thanks to everyone
