This is such a lovely pub. I'm not local, but always happy to come here for food, drinks and catchups with friends. Visited on a gloriously sunny March afternoon and unfortunately the sun is currently blocked by a stretch canopy. I'm sure this is just for the winter and it will continue to be a favourite all-seasons pub destination in East Grinstead with a wonderful sun trap garden!
Booked for a birthday celebration meal. Pretty disappointing. We had to ask for cutlery and napkins three times, by which time we'd finished our sharing starter which we ended up eating with our fingers. Mains didn't arrive altogether and three of the dishes looked like they'd sat under the heat lamp for some time/bit dried out. Overpriced in terms of quality and service.nWon't be back in any hurry.
Brilliant staff and atmosphere. Sian and Ed were both friendly, happy to help a traveler, provided a great atmosphere to all and had a great bar etiquette. I never had a to wait long and felt truly welcome. Beautiful decor and a good cohort of publicans here.
A wonderful birthday gathering at the best hostelry in the town. Around 40 guests and outstanding selection of plant based food that delighted everyone. The vegan birthday cake was such a success that it converted the sceptics! The service was brilliant, the atmosphere chill and yet buzzing. Friends who’d travelled from Switzerland said it was absolutely worth the journey. Love how the menu is diversifying, highly recommend whether just for drinks or enjoying the food. Very well kept and friendly establishment.
Had an amazing experience at The Ship in East Grinstead! Ed, the manager, was incredibly welcoming and went out of his way to make sure we were well looked after. The bonus? They serve Proper Job – the only place in East Grinstead that does, which made the experience even better!nnThe food was outstanding. I had the roast beef, which was huge – I couldn’t even finish it! My wife ordered the chicken and leek pie, which was just as delicious and great value for money. We were also well taken care of by Sian, who was so friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed.nnHighly recommend for the food, the service, and the Proper Job on tap!
