Our first trip of the year to shake out the cobwebs went well, aided and abetted by the warm welcome and friendly staff. ( Karen and Steve) at the Sheriff Hutton C&C site. Clean facilities, warm showers helps when you tug an Eriba in British weather. With regard to a previous post regarding logs on BBQ's well done to the vigilant staff. Having seen the aftermath of a tent fire I would not like to see it happen again,

An excelllent friendly site close to York. I have been to Sheriff Hutton a number of times over the last 3 year and on each visit I have found the site to be clean, well maintained and the staff friendly. The site is well laid out which means that it doesnt feel like eeryone is crammed into the site. This year the Fish and Chip Van has returned on a Saturday evening and I can highly recommend the food from the van - its all cooked to order and delicious. The facilities on the site are good - clean showers and toilets etc. Monks Cross shopping centre is abou 10 minutes drive and the Park and Ride from there gives easy access to York.

Awful - We have been here a few times over the years but it seems that Health and safety, or so the people running it said, has taken over the enjoyment of camping at this site, the attendants measured the distances between tents and awnings and gazebos we were all part of the same group booked in at the same time under the same name but we were a considerable distance from each other. We had a civilised bbq in a travel bbq, not a disposable one so made for purpose, we then put a heat log on the bbq so we could stay warm later into the evening so we could socialise with each other and enjoy the outside environment, we were promptly then told by one of the attendants to put out the heat log as it was classed as an open fire, this was also said with the tag line of, 'apologies for spoiling your fun'. We will never go to that camp sight again unless there are dramatic changes.

Very nice people there, you could chat to them all day. But if you like your own space this isn't for you

We have now stayed twice at Sheriff Hutton and will return in the future. It is a lovely site, with very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location for York and all Yorkshire many location, from Knaresborough to Whitby.
