I would like to say what a fantastic first class hospitalPractice Plus, Shepton Mallet is and my pleasure in coming for treatment, not once but twice, 14th July 2025 for a full right hip replaced and 11th December 2025 for surgery to my right foot second toe. Treatment from everyone concerned was amazing, from the very skilled Consultants, Surgeons, Anaesthetist, Doctors, their teams, Theatre staff and the wonderful nurses who looked after me following treatment.nnA big thank you to all the staff, as this is what makes a a good hospital great. “The Staff.” I would not hesitate in recommending this amazing hospital to anyone.nnOnce again, thank you to Malcolm Podmore, A. Rozycki and of course my favourite Greek Anaesthetist.nnYours sincerelynnJ M Shearer MrsnNHS Number 4549301082
I was referred here by Glastonbury Surgery in January regarding a hernia that is very clear and obvious. It took around six weeks to see a specialist, followed by another month waiting for a scan.nnDuring the scan, I repeatedly explained where the hernia actually was, but the person carrying out the scan examined the wrong area. He then identified a hernia in the area he was scanning, despite it not being the location of my actual issue.nnAnother month later, I saw a different specialist who, on palpation, said there was no hernia. I explained again that he was examining the wrong place, just as the scanner had done previously. There has clearly been a major breakdown in communication and information between staff throughout this process.nnNow I am left waiting yet again for another scan to be done properly, while continuing to live in pain and discomfort. The lack of listening and attention to what I have consistently explained has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.
I made an appointment to see an orthopaedic consultant directly no need for a referral from GP because the waiting list to see one on the NHS is ridiculous. Saw him within a week of making the call. We had a quick consultation, followed immediately by a series of X rays of my knee and an immediate follow up with the doctor. All done within an hour and I have a diagnosis of knee pain mild osteoarthritis. All for £95, which is money well spent. Why can't the NHS be this efficient? Nice and friendly staff as well. All good.
My husband had a privately paid for hip replacement here in March 2024 and has been in pain ever since. He has seen the consultant a few times and has been given ineffective treatment but with no improvement. He now seems to be being ignored as the promised second opinion hasn't happened and no further investigation has been offered. My husband's previous hip replacement with the NHS at an NHS hospital a few years ago was brilliant and hasn't caused him any problems since. We are so disappointed with the treatment he has received with this operation.
Had a Colonoscopy yesterday the care I received was 5star and more.nAll staff so kind and explained every procedure they carried out.nConsider myself very lucky and grateful to receive this excellent care.
