Fascinating place of mysterious origin! Doesn’t take too long to walk through it and the walls decorated with millions of shells are beautiful and very impressive. Loved the gift shop :
Really interesting building. Who built it? What was it for? No one knows but what an amazing find! Definitely worth a visit. We managed to get parked on the road outside which was very convenient.
I was fascinated by this place. Cave made by 4.6 million shells, I wonder how many years and dedication was invested to make this magnificent place. Tickets were £4.5 for adult, it doesn’t take long time inside, place was beautiful. You can also take souvenirs upstairs in cozy shop. Worth the ticket price and time. Just beautiful place to be, shouldn’t be missed when you are in margate.
The Shell Grotto is well sign posted within the town and easy to find on foot. Parking is limited as located in a residential area, but pay and display car parks a short walk away.nEntry costs adult £4.50 and the Grotto is truly mesmerising, the work involved is extraordinary.nNice little unusual visit and we'll pleased we did.
Tucked away in a tiny corner, 4.6 million shells, delicately line the 70ft of winding passages/tunnels, in different patterns.... Surviving the winds of time.nBe careful with your bags and stuff so as to not cause any damage.nMaximum time spent through the tunnels: 25 minutes.nIt's a small place but it's a nice place to visit. Add it to your bucket list.nIt has a Nice gift shop, too.
