I have been with this practice for over 10 years and I have a lot of complex health issues. Whilst there have been issues and problems overall I feel it is easier to get suitable and appropriate appointments than others have reported to me with different practices and there are some excellent staff in all positions and levels across the practice.
As if the booking system wasn’t already a nightmare, they have gone and made it even worse. Want to speak to a receptionist? You can’t anymore, thanks to this amazing new system! Fill in a questionnaire online and the GP will review it within 2 DAYS. Are you telling us we are no longer able to see a GP on the same day? Now we will have even more people scrambling to the A&E for simple things such as infections that require an antibiotic, as they can’t get seen by the bloody GP in time.
When I moved to this area, I called in and asked to register here. The receptionist literally tutted and rolled her eyes at me. I said 'Excuse me!' She then said 'You need to fill in the form and I'll need to see documented proof. Do you have it on you?' as she stood there leaning forward. It sounded like a threat rather than a question. What a horrible witch! There was absolutely no need for her rudeness. I googled other practices and went to Cale Green surgery where there wasn't a problem whatsoever. Also, they answer the phone within one minute.
Been here once or twice in the last 15 years and i think they receptionists are great and the doctor was pretty young but was still experienced, couldn’t fault her. Receptionist greeted me nicely and told we what i need to do with no attitude. There was a delay for 15 mins but thats ok. Spent about 8 to 10mins with the doctor to explain my problem, how long i’ve had the issue and what i’ve tried so far. She agreed that I’ve done everything I can and she told me that she’ll refer me to a specialist and was honest with me and to expect a long wait. She also offered me to see the nurse the in practice to see if there are treatment they can do in the meantime while waiting for the referral. I can’t anything more to be honest, they’ve done there best!.
The worst, absolutely useless. Rarely use the service but I have still had a couple terrible experiences.
One start is flattering shawheath and Bramhall. Both surgery are poor when it comes to attitude towards patients. I had an appointment last week with the nurse who was amazing and too good to work in such poor organisation. Spoke to a lady at reception who refused to book an appointment for me. I have called in today and had my worst experience yet. Lines didn't open at 8.. Followed auto robot to speak to a trained care assesser. He was rude and unhelpful, can't book an appointment either as new "traffic light system" means that they message the GP to call you within two weeks depending upon your situation. Advised boy on the phone that the matter was something I was only willing to talk to the GP with and he became stroppy. He blames the government for bringing in this system and basically didn't want anything to do with the person on the other side of the phone. GP surgery's need to realise that some people, either due to technical reasons or down to mental health do not want to book appointments on an online system that doesn't even work. People who call the surgery are keeping members of their staff like this young boy in a job. Either go fully online and improve your systems and make your receptionists redundant or show them how to have some emotion and support patients who are on the phone!!! Shocking!! Time wasting!! A kick in the face to tax payers.
Way better now I’ve moved from Bramhall park. Staff are competent at this branch in shaw Heath and the new text booking system is the best thing hope it stays. Dr Stirling is my fave.
This practice has really gone down hill. I can never get an appointment. I am always told to ring back at 8am. I can’t ring back at 8am because that is when I start work. I rang this surgery a few weeks ago to make an appointment only to be told that there are no available slots and to ring at the end of the month. Terrible terrible service.
Don't ever register with this GP, it's almost impossible to get a same day appointment even if you ring at 8 in the morning. I have been trying for 5 days now and either got lied to saying we will get the GP to put a note to get an emergency prescription which never happened. Or they will hang up on you straight away when you ask for 1 minute to turn your volume up as they are having technical issues. Not to mention when I was in one day for an appointment with my daughter they were insulting people who after hanging up on a patient the reception staff didn't seem to like. Disgusting behaviour really.
Some of the reception staff are very helpful and go above and beyond to help I have no issues with them. What I have got an issue with is the diabolical new phone system . Many times it has taken over an hour to get through which is frankly unacceptable, the receptionists always used to answer the phone very quickly before this new system. The last straw today was my husband rang at 8am yesterday morning, 15th in the queue ! He was waiting for 30 minutes to be told there were no more on the day phone calls left so it was arranged a Dr would ring him this afternoon. Because my husband was anxious and in pain I rang at 3pm to ask what time it would be and was told he shouldn't have been told a Dr would ring today as this won't happen. So we now have to try all over again tomorrow or wait 2 weeks for a bookable appt. How is this fair when someone is in pain ? I would be grateful if someone from the surgery would respond to this
