Staff nice and friendly, but they brought out our main meals followed straight after by the starter !!!! Overpriced, starter was Calamari £6:50but instead of rings was just little bits and I mean "little bits, the vegetarian curry 12:95was a very small portion and the hunters chicken Schnitzel 14:25was a flat over fried piece of chicken with bacon that was not cooked properly !!! Will not be going back and would not recommend. Staff very nice people though. After a couple drinks each your looking at over £50 but would rather an IPA public house for better food.
Not enjoyable at all bank holiday Monday and the place is very quiet now I know why . Starters: not king prawns and no mango in the mango and king prawn cocktail. The fish was not cod regardless of the waitress insisting it was. Sent mains back as the cold chips were French fries and not triple cooked as per the menu. No garlic prawns on the platter for two. Hard undercooked chips. Burgers were dry and tasteless. Disappointed to say the least. We were told by our waitress that the chefs are exhausted due to the bank holiday and had been forgetting to put food on the plates. No excuses everyday should be treated as a new day. The table behind us had garlic prawns also left off their sharing plate and the ladies in the corner left their steaks as it was inedible.
This was the 2nd week in a row visiting Shaw Farm for a meal. Both times the food has been delicious and the service fantastic. Fish and chips were delicious, and the desserts were great. I highly recommend the Black Forest chocolate pot dessert which my mate had. Very imaginative!
Service was good, generally the staff seemed friendly and attentive, atmosphere was OK, the pub and restaurant had a nice feel, huge beer gardens which is great. Pond area and gardens appear a little overgrown which is a shame. Food was a little underwhelming, I had the chicken club sandwhich, which was tiny but tasted nice.
Wonderful pub with excellent quality of food. We were slightly concerned to attentiveness to allergies, however fortunately all turned out okay. Would seriously reccomend and will gladly come back again.
We went for a family members birthday meal here, booked well in advance. Tried contacting them during the week of our booking but no answer and no reply to our voice message. We were seated in a lovely little area and our orders were taken. I really wish I had timed it because it felt like forever until our food came. It was quite busy, and had a wedding party there too, so understood somewhat. Limited menu for vegetarians unfortunately. But food was enjoyable, 2 people on our table had the signature burger but weren't overly impressed, said wouldn't order again. The children's fish was large which was great for my daughter, lol. Otherwise a lovely meal with my favourite people, and the staff really did make the evening a pleasure, would return just to see the lovely ladies again.
I took my wife and two of our children for Sunday afternoon dinner. We go to Shaw Farm every Sunday for a few drinks and decided to try the food so we booked a table online. The service was exceptional, the food was amazing and the venue was tidy and also kept diligently clean. All in all we left as a very full up and happy family
This is our favourite pub / restaurant. Fab experience from the moment you walk in. It's a lovely cosy pub, with real fires. Staff are always welcoming and helpful and you can't beat the food. Big home cooked portions, the Sunday roast is our top pick. Big garden for the summer months so the kids can run around and burn off some energy! 100% recommend.
After lockdown the food used to be really good. Is has slowly gone down hill since then . Today's meal was our last here. The soup was bitter. Supposed to be leek and potatoes but tasted nothing like. It was barely warm. Whereas the butter was liquid. For mains I had the fish and chips is was disgusting. The batter was slimy and completely inedible. I would have complained had eanyone actually come back to our table. We had to go and find our own condiments, our dirty starters plates were not cleared away till our mains had been brought. If I hadn't stacked them there would have been no room. At the end of our meal we were not asked how it was. We paid grudgingly and left. We will not be back...
We visited with the grandchildren and had an early evening meal. The lady that served us was very efficient. Nice food and good ambience. Added bonus which we hadn't realised was a 20% discount on main meals, it was easy to download the app and made the meals for 4 very reasonable
