Staff waiting at the door, to greet you. Shapla Restaurant, at the heart of the city, serves Indian and bangladeshi cuisine. Even if it’s busy and can’t be seated straight-away you are kindly asked to wait in a waiting area.

The restaurant is enormous on the inside, the tables are spread out spaciously, with a bar at the side. The décor is modern, yet with a traditional twist of Indian paintings.

The music, setting and lighting all make it the finest dining experience.

A wide variety of dishes, from continental Indian grills to curry dishes satisfying every desire.
The waiter offers assistance in picking the perfect dish to personal preferences.

If you never tried Indian - Bangladeshi food this is a good place to start. They have a great menu and many dishes to choose from, even if you are not into spicy food or you don’t eat meat. The food taste so amazing it’s almost unbelievable. Definitely coming back. They take cash payments only but they have an ATM machine right outside. Service and facilities are right in order. Really nice experience.
Despite coming late we were served without fuss. Phenomenal food. Proper spicy options if that is what you want and the milders choices would disappoint either. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. I can guarantee you wont be disappointed. I will certainly be back soonFood: 5/5
Wow, this may have been the best curry I have ever eaten. The Shapla Chutneythe red one was like nothing I have ever tasted, something berry-like with lime, mint, onion seeds, and chili. The bread was made from fresh dough and cooked to perfection, crispy on the bottom with a little spring in the middle. The salad and the mains were made with fresh veg. The restaurant itself and the dining experience is a little old-fashioned 70s-80s cliche. This can be tacky and uncomfortable, but the Shapla pulls it off, as furnishings and decor were of good quality, and the staff came across as genuinely polite and helpful, to the point I enjoyed every moment. The restaurant was cash only but I won't score them down as they have there own ATM out side the restaurant.
An authentic, friendly restaurant in a drab area of Sheffield, but the best naan bread I've ever tasted! Very attentive service and fresh coriander garnishing good sized portions of food. The dishes, when brought from the kitchen could have been thermally hotter, but were placed on extremely hot chafing dishes which kept them warm. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will certainly return. Very very reasonable prices indeed for January 2023. Vegetarian options: My friend enjoye
Classic British Asian cuisine in beautiful surroundings with booths. Polite and professional staff. Food itself was delicious with large pieces of meat and plenty of spice. I have seen the criticism that this isn't authentic and has "70s style" decor. I would say many people want the classic British curry house experience with British Asian cuisine, and Shapla does that excellently.
This place has gone so down hill, used to be my favourite Indian restaurant, The food was very nice, but the service was awful, we were rushed, was told to hurry up looking at menu as chef wanted to go home, hadn't even got halfway through starters when they were telling us to hurry up because mains were ready. put the bill on the table then stood on guard waiting for us to pay. Rude staff.Dont accept a table at 11.30pm if u want to close up .....hence no tip.Wont be returning
Went recently on a really quiet night, think there were only maybe 3or 4 couples dining there. Food was good but was only warm definitely nowhere near “hot”, but the most disappointing thing was that while the staff are lovely and really attentive and regularly asking if everything’s ok, the service was just so quick like they want you in and out as quick as possible! We had only just been presented with poppadums and then not 5 minutes later our starters arrived, then after we had finished them we got our mains almost immediately. Please can you allow your customers to relax and enjoy their time with you instead of herding them in and out like cattle? Our visit would have been so much more enjoyable if this had been the case!
Just had an amazing freshly cooked Indian meal ,absolutely beautiful ,naan breads cooked to perfection , lovely staff , car parking to the rear of restaurant , can’t wait for next time .
Main meal was good, nan bread was not as good as you buy in any supermarket, chips were cold and like they were made yesterday, so disappointed having many great meals from here, somethings changed internally to take it from a 5* to a 2*
nasty food, bad service! no one in the building was polite including the manager! service was terrible. waiters dropping drinks on floor and on guests! disgraceful. worst ever visit . do not enter
