A brilliant place to visit. The history here is great, not only the history attached to the steam rally and all the old vehicles. But the history surrounding this estate itself. There are graves here of people who lived and died before Australia was even discovered !! One civilization going about it's business before another was even thought about. That's the amazing history about places like this.
Absolutely abysmal response to a simple request to remove a decomposing stinking fox from the side of the road on the way into Antrim boat club at the end of the new tarmac where the concrete road starts. Rang spoke to a lady who would report it straight away nearly 3 weeks ago, left 2 messages on their voicemail system since. They appear not to give a damn despite repeated polite requests, shame on you, simply not good enough. Rather ironically this is where the new caravan park will be, good luck so anyone thinking of using this new facility.
Was at one of the summer events and it was well organized/not too pricey.
Very lovely looking place for a walk and the nice old castle, and the steam show was great
Me and the Hubby came across the gate way to Shanes castle today beautiful big castle style gate way lovely flowers along front , so we decided to take a walk in to have a look , as we walked in there was a little house behind one of the walls around the house it said private , so we walked up a bit, but im 20 weeks pregnant so only walked up a short bit also wasn't anything to see only a paintball part, so turned back , to our surprise this guy who looked very cross asked us " can I help you" as we were apologising he rudely turned on his heel walked into his house and shut door very rude if this is a private gateway sign should be across gateway of Castle not round wee tiny house u can't even see from road ! Won't be visiting again ! ruined a pleasant day
Went to the Shanes castle steam rally and visited the castle. A really enjoyable visit. The old ruins have a beautiful view over Lough Neagh.
Shane's Castle County Antrim Winterfell / Castle Black / The Land of Always Winter / The Wildlings Site Shane's castle is near Randalstown in Co. Antrim, by Lough Neahg. The castle itself is in a ruined state since a fire in 1816, and it is the grounds that mostly feature in the show. You would probably recognise the grounds of the castle from the tournament scene in which we were introduced to the Hound and his brother, the Mountain. However, this bridge you'll recognise from the sword fight between Brienne of Tarth and the KingSlayer. Shane's Castle Dragonstone Dungeons Stannis visits Davos in the dungeons underneath Dragonstone in episode #308 "Second Sons".
Went on bank holiday Monday had a really enjoyable day out lots to see also great as we could bring our dog with us .
Have been to the Shane Castle vintage weekend a few year ago and was very impressed with the lay out and show that was laid on brilliant spot
