We have paid this chippy a visit a few times, as came across by chance a few years ago when we was on a day out, we opted for the meal deal "comes different sizes from you to pick from" Fish, chips, mushy peas, bread & butter and a drink. Absolutely delicious it didn't disappoint. It was freshly cooked crispy batter on the fish just how we like it, chips nice and tasty. We would definitely recommend and will call in again on our next visit.
Best fish and chips I've had for a long time. The only place still serving food at 3.30pm on a busy summer Saturday. I was glad this was the case. Extremely friendly staff and a huge choice of food. Fast service and beautifully cooked. I had a fish tea with bread and butter and a drink included. Excellent value and perfectly cooked, no grease and no stodgy batter and lovely chips. Highly recommend and I will be back to try other items
Exceeded expectations in terms of quality, quantity, service, value and all round experience. I got the extra large fish and chips and the fish was delicious, the batter nice and crispy and the chips, firm golden brown and dry.Food: 5/5
Take away fish suppers back to our VW Camper - “awesome”. Service great, all cooked fresh by wee chap, and served by nicest staff ever. Couldn’t way to nip back to our van to eat; and so good! Cooked perfectly and batter just right too. Thank you Food: 5/5
Called in here and awarded 4 stars because it was freshly cooked, piping hot, the staff were friendly and efficient, and I'm sure most people will love it. Everyone likes different things, so some will find it great. For my own taste, I had a couple of reservations, but it's a personal thing. The first thing was the thickness of the chips. They certainly were not the thin fries that sometimes get called chips, and they were a regular size some people will like. Personally, I prefer more 'chunky' sized chips, not least because you get more chips and fewer scraps. The second thing were the peas. There was nothing wrong with the peas themselves, but they were served in a separate dish as seems to have become the 'norm' during the last ten years or so. Personally, if I'm having peas, I like them on my plate. If they come in a separate dish, the first thing I do is tip them out onto my plate. I saw a TV chef recently say peas and beans are served in separate dishes these days so customers can dip their chips or bread into them. Personally, I've never had any problem dipping chips into them when they are on the plate. Like I said, it's a personal taste. Many will love things just the way they were served.
I’ve been to this place a few times and normally very good. Called today just after 4pm for a large chips to take out. Charged £4.75 for a portion what resembled the scraps that was left, brittle rubbery and chewy. Obviously you didn’t want to fry any fresh at this time of day. I’ll be thinking twice about coming back..
Perfection! Fresh fish, crispy batter, chips cooked to perfection, extremely friendly and warm welcome, super fast service, good sized portions, absolutely delicious fish chips mushy peas. and tartar sauce and drink cans of pop or tea / coffee and change from a tenner. Nice clean dining area and the food fresh, tasty and cooked to a high standard. First visit for me but it won't be the last. Highly recommended. 10/10.
Every chip shop in the country says they are the best, but its fish and chips.there is not allot you can do to improve it. The customer service is excellent. nothing is to much trouble.there is a daily special list.very reasonably priced. bread and butter nice cup of tea.i would suggest as I I allways do.put mint in the mushy please.I would recommend it to everyone.
Have visited before but some restrictions were still in place due to COVID. Enjoyed our meal then but left no review. But we did said we would try again someday. You can park very close by. There is an M&S store with a small car park just down from Seafarers. Probably struggle to get a space at certain times but we were there on a Thursday at around five o'clock. First hour is free but two hours is £2.00. Carol, our waitress noticed I was struggling a bit to get comfy at the table we had first been directed to so sorted us out with a more accessible one. There are also tables and chairs outside should you wish to dine in the sunshine We ordered one regular special, £10.95, and one extra large special, £12.95. That's fish, chips, slice of bread and butter and a drink. Tea, coffee or a can of pop. You also get mushy peas but we were offered the option to change this to beans, curry sauce or gravy. We stuck with the peas. As you can see from the picture the extra large is a large fish. It was freshly cooked and I really enjoyed it. One of the best fried fish I have had in a long time. Chips also very good but a small criticism is that there were a lot of scraps in it. The peas were really tasty as well. You can certainly tell the difference getting fish and chips in a proper chippy rather than as a pub meal. Service was friendly. We were asked if we wanted dessert but we were both full from our special. Would recommend and will use again if visiting St Anne's. Parking: Small car park outside a Marks and Spencers just down from the Seafarers. About 40 spaces. First hour is free. Longer than that you pay. Some disabled spaces but not excempt from fee. You need car registration to pay so ticket is only for your car. We have been twice late afternoon both times and always got a space.
We have visited before and I'm delighted to say that it's still as good as ever. Delicious freshly cooked fish with mushy peas, chips, bread and butter. All at an excellent price and friendly cheerful service. Looking forward to the next visit.Food: 5/5
