A lovely stay in the comfort cabin. A couple of side tables in the lounge would have been appreciated and a non slip mat in the bath. My elderly mum couldn’t get in the bath to have a shower and there was nothing for her to hold onto if she had been able to. Overall a nice friendly atmosphere. Rooms: Bathroom bath was a little tired and the mattresses were uncomfortable. The lounge and kitchen were nice and clean and well equipped. Food & drinks: On site pub did nice food and at a ready price.
We visited for a family camping trip. The field was well laid out to show your pitch, however, the grass had been cut and there were grass cutting all over the place resulting in very messy toilets in the mornings, and obviously a bit annoying for tents! The toilet and shower block was good, despite the hot water not functioning one day. Good recycling and rubbish facility. No hot water for dishwashing. To access the facilities there is a 10-15 minute walk as the camping field is a fair distance from everything else. Probably wouldn't come back here to camp.
Lovely little holiday park, really close to the wild animals of the New Forest. Stayed in an adapted caravan which didn't have the best design to it. Bathroom floor was very slippery so use a towel if you have mobility issues. Very narrow, getting through with a wheelchair whilst someone was cooking or trying to pass was a bit of a problem and it hadn't been properly aired as it still smelled of dogs. Had a couple of issues that needed fixing and they sent the handyman out very quickly to rectify the problem. Overall, it was functional and the bedding was comfortable. The Guest Services were pleasant enough, I think there was a bit of communication confusion from what we asked for to what we got as we had to go back to remind them, but it was ok overall. Probably would go back if I fancied a short break with friends as it was cheap and cheerful. Needs a bit more understanding of disabled clientele and accessibility issues Nearby activities: Great for youngsters. Plenty to do and see Walkability: Main areas are flat and accessible but footpaths are gravel/ pebbles Food & drinks: Only ate at the Woodside Inn. Food was tasty. Not cheap though
We came here for a family holiday as a group of 7 for our only holiday of the year. When we got to sandy balls the receptionist was so rude and told us to wait and someone will give us a call to check in. That call never came, this did not give a good impression. We waited until 5pm before heading round to the reception to check in. On first inspection of the property felt like the movie cabin in the woods. It was completely run down and was not clean at all. There wasn't enough cutlery, plates, bowls, cups, I could go on. We were told it we had an upgrade, however I struggled to see what the upgrade was. Our family were in another lodge quite a distance away from us. When we went to speak with someone the reception was closed and we had to speak with the maintenance team. I must admit Gary from maintenance was super lovely and extremely understanding of the condition of the property. He explained to us that he would speak with the manager and get her to come and see us at the cabin as the property was disgusting. My mother in law cleaned the property and the state of the cloths were black. Who goes on holiday and expects to clean the accommodation that they will be staying in. The next day we received a call from the customer service manager, although she was meant to come down to us. She was not sympathetic and kept telling us we were in an upgraded lodge. Considering we booked 2 three bedroom lodges and we were in a 2 bedroom lodge. We were told that the flooring had fallen through in our lodge and that they had phoned the family who were meant to be in our lodge to move their holiday. Firstly why move a family that were due to go into a 2 bed instead of speaking with us to give us to option. She said she would get more cutlery to us and that will resolve the issues we had found. The list was: Ensuite shower screen was broken Toilet in the ensuite continued to run all the time Toilet seat in the ensuite was broken Dishwasher was broken Fridge had missing shelves Places was dirty and didn't look like it was clean Windows were dirty so you couldn't see out Hot tub was broken Lack of cutlery, pots and pans Dining room chair was broken A picnic bench on the decking but no other seating outside I could go on. We were coming to have a holiday as a family who recently lost a family member and wanted to have time together to make memories however this was not the holiday we had. The main restaurant was closed on Saturday and Sunday. Woodside was always busy and had long waits for food. The shop was over priced. The only thing that I would say was good was the arcade and the swimming pools. We had many nights with bugs in the lodge. Don't get me wrong I know we are in the new forest but the amount of bugs we were getting in the lodge was alot. The lodge was dark and had to have lights on all the time to be able to see anything. Nothing was resolved no matter how many times we complained. We cut the holiday short because we just couldn't stay any longer in there. We have been before and was amazing but we won't be returning again or recommending sandy balls to friends or families.
Really nice place came with family and dog. The cabin / static caravan was fine although got very hot and was expensive for a week. The pool was impossible to get into so we swam twice in a week, all other activities cost so would stretch the budget. Restaurant was OK first time really happy, second time food was low quality and expensive, over £100 for family of 4. The pub was closer to a weatherspoons sadly without the cheap drinks, 3 soft drinks was close to £11. The supermarket was excellent with lots choice of artisan and fresh food.
A nice site but overall everything is a bit too small. The lodge we stayed in was nice. Amenities like the pool and the entertainment room don't match up with the size of the site, we only went to see the entertainment one night and it there are only about 30 tables and it was all ended by around half 10. Not very close to anything so need to drive out for a day out. Food was nice but a little pricey and alcoholic drinks are very expensive so make sure to stock up before. Some very nice woodland walks around the site and dog friendly all over
Stayed at my neighbours lodge so can’t comment on price. Fantastic location which we used as a base to explore the area. Used the on-site spa which was great. All staff we had contact with were super friendly and helpful. Loved the alpacas. Accommodation compact but very clean. Very peaceful setting. Would go back and recommend.Rooms: 5/5
Got home from Sandy Balls today, when we arrived there was still dirt in the lounge . The bedrooms were OK, shower in one of the en suites was temperamental and not easy to turn. Loved the little pot with essentials in it, it was a nice touch. Overall it was comfortable. The Aubrey restaurant managed to squeeze in 10 of us on Friday night when we weren't aware we had to book, the food was really nice and reasonably priced. Entertainment basic. Nearby activities: There is a pub just up the road called The Fighting Cocks, well worth the visit. I highly recommend having a drink there with the animals.
First time here and had a lodge with hot tub. Beautiful lodge although there were a few bits of wear n tear but it's to be expected. Great location with lots in the forest to explore, we found the restaurant food better than expected too. All in all we really enjoyed our stay.Rooms: 5/5
Lovely setting in the new forest and a beautiful park with great amenities. The pool, playgrounds and river/woodland area were all a hit with our family. Our lodge was clean and comfortable but only gripes were around lack of clarity regarding towels/soap being available. Also requested a travel cot in advance which was not set up when we arrived and it was difficult to get hold of anyone to help on the phone. Did however get rectified.
