The NHS is not underfunded. It has so many bone idle wasters it is unbelievable. This is about the administration people and communication departments, sack the lot of them, but you won't. The nurses are great and do the best for you. Before anyone moans about my comments I went on strike years ago on the day of action in support of the nurses pay rise.
A painful but pleasant experience. Surgery was swift and very well done although I now look like a patchwork quilt! Day staff are excellent, professional, kind, reassuring, compassionate, etc... The exact opposite of the night staff in fact. Food was hit and miss, the cottage pie and mash was good, the apple pie and custard tasted like wallpaper paste and the vegetable soup looked like it had already been digested. Would stay here again if they improve the quality of the night staff.
I was transported from city hospital yesterday to Sandwell lindon 1st floor after a few days of being at city with my now 5 day old newborn baby.. She’s being treated here and a couple of the staff i have seen have been wonderful, very polite and respectful when entering and leaving the room but the others…I’m not a rude or confrontational person and I understand how hard the job can be which is why I barely leave the room and only ask for help if I really need it which hasn’t happened yet but having some of the staff especially the cleaners just barge into your cubical room without knocking for 1 and other times when they barge through it’s literally like they don’t give the door a chance to open so it causes a lot of noise and when your new born has finally settled or is trying to settle and they do this which has startled my little one out of her sleep and took me a while to settle her again it’s really not fair!!! I had to put a note on the door for them not slam the door when entering and leaving the room and I thought I shouldn’t have to do that but here we are.
The service was beyond disgraceful—something you'd expect in the worst conditions imaginable. My son, after 20 years of never needing A&E, had to go in after breaking his foot during a football match. What followed was a 6-hour wait, during which they either refused to provide or simply didn’t have a wheelchair, forcing him to hop around in pain. When he finally saw a doctor, the interaction lasted no more than five minutes. They slapped a support strap on him and told him to come back in three days to deal with the break and dislocation—no cast, no attempt to fix the dislocation. The level of neglect is staggering. Go there if you're looking for an early grave!
I was recently a patient on the SAU ward at Sandwell hospital and I cannot praise the staff up enough. The nurses all went above and beyond with the level of care they showed me. I felt in safe hands there and nothing was too much trouble for them. I am so unbelievably grateful for how much they looked after me.. being in hospital isn’t easy but when you have nurses that will go the extra mile and make sure you’re okay and are sympathetic and caring.. well it makes things so much easier. You’re all brilliant! I know the NHS in recent years has gotten a lot of stick but I cannot say anything negative from my experience at Sandwell Hospital. Thank you for taking such good care of me.
My 96 years old mother was admitted to Newton 5 where they cared for her superbly, nothing was too much trouble especially Levi, a ward Sister, who went way above the call of duty. Levi arranged follow up services within a very short period of time following my mother becoming distressed at a further two days in Hospital. Thank you Sandwell. Thank you Levi. Alan Wills.
My 90 husband was admitted via A&E last week, very poorly on arrival. He was seen promptly, blood taken, Saline drip set up, b/p monitored - it was very high.. My own experience of the nurses and doctors we dealt with was excellent. Kindly and helpful. Sandwell Hospital gives off ‘good vibes’. Junis Harvey
Came here as City Hospital is worse by a fraction, Inhaled Flea Spray by accident and told them I feel sick, dizzy and generally unwell. I asked a nurse and she gave the most "How do I care look" told me she'd checky for me then just sat down and did some "Work". I literally inhaled spray that can be toxic if inhaled and I'm told to just wait. The nurse would rather play on his phone!!
I'm sorry to say the A&E department here is nothing short of shocking. It is poorly run, with little organisation, very bad patient care and needs a deep clean. I appreciate the shortage of beds, but if the hospital cannot accomodate patients who are severely unwell they should not be left waiting for hours on end in the waiting room but moved to other hospitals.
I went there after calling 111 and being referred. Receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. Was shown where I needed to go. Dr was very friendly and well mannered aswell as calming. Waiting time was minimal. Could not fault any staff ....the building is old and in need of updating but that's not the staffs fault . Well done to all the staff
