If you're going up the coast to Bridlington or Scarborough, keep going, past whitby to Sandsend (you've must visit Staithes too. a few mile further up) not as commercial as other coast resorts but for people who've had enough of the usual seaside towns these are a beautiful  alternative.

Quaint shop, only had an ice cream literally at shop closing time was still served with a smile! Really nice place with great staff.

This is a shop on the front at Sandsend.  It is a village store, selling a multitude of things.  We ordered sandwiches and I also had a pork and apple meat pie.  The sandwiches were freshly made and the pie was out of this world.  It was apparently made by a local butcher in Ruswarp.  The two ladies in the shop were very friendly and helpful.  This shop is great if you are wanting a value for money quality snack or for newspapers and other  bits and pieces you might want on your day at the coast.  There are a couple of of tables and chairs outside where you can eat your food and admire the sea view.  I will definitely visit again.
