I suppose like many hotels of this age they suffer from poorly implemented maintenance; a little bit more care on up-keep would make all the difference in how people perceive the rooms. We had a nice big room and it was clean, so don't let the 'needs an up-date' comments put you off. Breakfast was OK.
Ecently reopened since closing due to Covid so not everything was in place yet but what I saw of the place I will be back, spa looks great but didn’t use it. Breakfast was good although would have preferred a buffet breakfast, again this could be just until visitor numbers increase. Excellent position in town, really liked it and hope to be back when it’s all up and running ,
First room we were given was very poor with marks on the walls and carpets. Bathroom light wasn't working and there were dents in the wall with unfinished plaster. We were told there was no dinner being served in the hotel on a Saturday? and that the sister hotel up the road was recommended. The sister Hotel took our reservation but the food was awful and my partners starter was canned fruit salad with a passionfruit sauce/water!? We paid £50 for this wonderful dining experience... Everything was out of date at the hotel with no clear signage how to get about the place. We couldn't even find our own way to the pool which was the main draw of the place. Won't be staying again and I recommend avoiding staying here at all costs. Much better hotels around the country for the £105 price tag.
Late booking idea after a family bereavment and a worn out husband. Not a long drive after finishing work on Friday. We used to go on Wedding Anniversaries 20 odd years ago, we fancied cosying up next to the fireplaces and totally chilling. We paid £90 for a superior king room for the night, the picture looked luxurious and appealling on the site. The room just made us laugh, parts of the beds base were so old were lying on the floor. We went to the bar once, they seemed startled and bemused that we might, ordered two generic G&Ts, the staff who seemed like she shouldnt be there asked if we would like gin glasses then served us in any old glass, no lemon or lime offered as seemed was none. We had booked dinner, it was reasonable, asked for the wine list, waitress, who had served us at the bar looked utterly defeated, they had pinot grigio, "a rosy" they thoight... asked for some water, they forgot. It was not busy. Food was reasonably presented tbf. We switched the heater on next to our table as was cold. Staff trying their best and so passively apologetic was tragic so never said a word. Had a great night out in Dryman. Despite having paid for breakfast, could not face the farce and left first light. Memories of a nice place, good bar, excellent food are 20+ years old. Will not return. Can get way better for £90
Had an absolutely horrible time at this hotel. They stuck us in the horrible basement room. The bathroom door kept getting jammed. Had to shower with scolding hot water. At night when I tried to switch off the main light, the power tripped and I had to go out in them idle of the night tracked down the bartender who had to help us get the power back in our room. In the morning I went to go speak to the daytime manager and he didn't even acknowledge our presence. Heard our difficulties we faced in the room and shrugged and just walk away not a simple apology for the inconvenience. I was shocked by such poor customer service. Or maybe it was just the color of my skin.
Whilst advertised as £70 per night which is already on the higher side for comparable hotels where breakfast is included in the price on various online sites I was charged £80 at the hotel with the assertion this was the best price they could do, online they advertise a restaurant but this was closed for some non-descript reason and i was told i could wander the village to find food at some other place, the room was reasonable, however first use of the toilet left the impression cleanliness is not a priority considering the bowl had what appeared to be several days old urine in it. definately would not recommend
Restaurant was closed which I didn't know about until we arrived to check in. The sauna was also closed which was disappointing given we had booked this hotel for use of the spa facilities. Other than that room was lovely very clean and well kept. Nice and warm and welcoming at reception nd staff went out their way to help with any problems we had
Been 5 times decent location. Looks like covid has affected the quality. Looking quite run down. Leaks in the roof rooms looking tired. Spa needs maintenance but hopefully they will pick themselves up. Most likely will be back as we love the locationRooms: 3/5
Been here 4 times now. Rooms clean and tidy. Hotel in need of a it of tlc. Restaurant not always open not sure why even when it's busy. They have sign saying tea, coffee and cakes served till 3pm ignore itthe bar is never open for it. Other than that it's a great place to be has pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Just check to see all are functioning its like many leisure centres there is always something that may be broke.
Comfortable old country house, a bit of a maze. BnB, not meals. Room was small and cosy - ideal for a cold winter night. Good as a place to stop in the village of Drymen on a driving holiday.Rooms: 3/5
