It's a good supermarket and one of the better stores left in a town centre that seems to be catering to coffee shops, restaurants, charity shops and hair dressers .nnBut my view changed recently when they decided to replace all but about 5 checkouts of which 3 are normally closed with self checkouts.nnI really don't like self checkouts, I feel that they deny real people opportunities to work plus I'm now processing my shopping for Sainsbury's at my expense not theirs yet the prices for the products do not reflect this in my opinion.nnBut the store stocks a good range of supplies and maybe offers a better alternative to the LIDL store.
As far as Sainsbury's go, this one is definitely one of the best. It's got a huge floor plan, with half the shop dedicated to groceries and the other half home and fashion etc. There's a huge range of products to choose from, a cafe, Argos, and other such amenities inside. There's a decent toy section too, although no electronics as those are handled by the Argos instead.nnThe car park has ample space, and generally it's not a problem finding somewhere to leave the car. Just be prepared for a lengthy walk on a Saturday!
If you love wasting time queuing this is your store. This was my go to store for 12 years. What was a great shopping experience has been ruined by a ridiculous trolley self service system. Queues are always long at my last and my final visit 3 of the trolley self service units weren’t working there were only 2 members of staff on hand when 4 or more were needed … they were obviously working hard but overstretched . I counted 5 red lights on as people waited for them to sort out errors- and all the normal regular checkouts had 6 and more people with trolleys which were blocking the ends of the shopping aisles it was as busy as Christmas Eve mid weeknnIve since been shopping elsewhere who ever designed and tested this system got it wrong …. You’ve just lost at least one loyal customer and my £9000 a year grocery spend will be going elsewhere …. No point complaining about the delays as every staff member is being told this by a queue of disgruntled shoppers they simply shrug their shoulders and agree ‍because they have heard it multiple times that day … a shame and a management fiasco
Excellent store, well stocked. Ample free parking. Argos and Habitat stores located within. Also large variety of clothes and home ware TU.nnAlso has fuel station, open for extended hours, 7 days a week.nnUsed to have a spacious cafe upstairs but it has closed now.nnVery large parking area, with ample space availability. Maximum time allowed is 3 hours. Used to have large recycling area, but bins have been removed now.
