Parking is pay and display. Very tight carpark in front of the shop. Didn't realise there was another car park but we just wanted to get few things very quickly. Very spacious, quiet store and all shelves/crates were loaded with goods. We found what we needed therefore pleased with our visit.
While Sainsbury's in Welwyn Garden City impresses with its consistent product availability, the self-scan process leaves much to be desired. Customers using self-scan terminals often face frustrating delays of more than 10 minutes when encountering issues at the checkout, significantly impacting the efficiency of the shopping experience.nnThe Sainsbury's shopping experience in Welwyn Garden City involves a disheartening process for self-scan customers. After navigating through the checkout gates, akin to a prison exit, one is compelled to scan the receipt. Subsequently, the quest begins to locate a customer service representative who can provide another ticket. This additional ticket must be then scanned at a separate machine for parking validation.nnThis convoluted sequence of steps not only disrupts the flow of the shopping experience but transforms the mundane act of exiting the store into an intricate process resembling a maze. The inconvenience of these procedures, from receipt scanning to parking validation, turns what should be a straightforward shopping trip into a cumbersome ordeal. This detailed clarification underscores the complexities that contribute to the overall dissatisfaction and reconsideration of future visits.nnRegrettably, the exceptional product availability is overshadowed by the cumbersome self-scan and parking validation procedures. As a customer, the expectation is for a seamless and hassle-free shopping experience, but the current setup falls short of delivering on that front. Unfortunately, these frustrations lead me to reconsider future visits, as the overall shopping experience is compromised by these unnecessary challenges.
I visit here regularly and find the store access arrangements very poor. Eg escalators not working, one entrance locked so customers who have trolleys forced to walk around to the lift. For some people this could be very challenging/ not accessible. The toilet facilities are usually dirty. In early evening no tils open so forced to use self checkout even with heavy/ bulky shopping- this would be completely inaccessible for some people. One major positive is the staff team who go out of their way to help customers . Abi in particular will go out of her way to help make things manageable for customers struggling with facilities available. The store is spacious and nector offers are clearly marked. ….Over to the management team to make the store more accessible and welcoming particularly on arrival and departure as above. Trolley drop off problematic too..
The shop worker Olly has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. He refused to help me during busy times at self scan when his colleague was busy at self service, I had waited 10 minutes and he told me it's not his job to help at self service. Today he was unhelpful again while I tried to validate my parking and so arrogant, I don't know whether he dislikes brown people, I have never experienced such disdain and hostility from a shop worker. He seems to be very busy at giving directions and not very good at helping customers.nnI will never return to this store while they employ the likes of him. £100 a week now will be spent at Tesco.
Update.nThis place just gets worse every week we visit.nNo travelators work, only 1 lift. The whole shop has started to appear neglected. The barrier that checks your receipt hardly works so forced to just push open the barriers triggering the alarms.nNow the parking system has changed and that's worse than before. Now you have to queue in front of an already busy lift queue to validate your parking ticket.nSeriously thinking of changing weekly shop to Waitrose.
