If you like nature walks, want to entertain the children at the same time or just get closer to nature, this is a place for you. Tranquil surroundings, easy access from either Topsham or Darts Farm. Cycle or walk. Birdwatching hut provides both a good spot for birdwatching and an educational experience. Especially for children as there is always a choice of activities for children to enjoy.

Lovely spot, RSPB staff and education room at weekends very welcoming and help you spot things. Stuff for kids too.

I've been visiting this reserve for over 10 years now and each time it gets better. Recently the Hide was revamped so it's now split into two sections. One for the little ones (or RSPB Explorers) and one for the keen birders. Quite often the RSPB will have events in the half term and holidays to help keep the family entertained which is nice. I often get the T bus to the quay and have a gentle walk to the Hide and then carry on to Darts farm. A good reserve and suitable for bikes as well as push chairs (for most of it).

1247 on a Thursday, hide full of noisy birders, ssssh. Also visited on a Saturday with a early 0815 start, really quiet with only a few birders, plenty of birds, including hunting Sparrowhawk & Peregrine. Back again on a Saturday 9th Dec 0739hr start watching the sun come up.
