Royal West Of England Academy
"The RWA, Bristol's first art gallery, is proud to bring world-class art exhibitions from around the world to the South West since 1844. Located in a spectacular Grade II* listed building in the heart of Bristol, the RWA is the UK's only regional Royal Academy of Art. RWA has recently undergone a £4.1m transformation and is reopening in May 2022. They are open for all. Activities to take part in range from free, drop-in events, through to ticketed exhibitions & classes. You can see one of the changing exhibitions featuring new and old art, explore the free Family Activity Space or sign up to an art class. Alternatively, you can simply relax in the café or on the forecourt or visit the RWA Shop."

I visited for the annual open exhibition when there is a large variety of artwork on display. There are regular events for all ages that need to be booked in advance. There is level access entry and lifts to the galleries. The connected coffeeshop is also worth visit.
Spider and Cole cafe. This is a new cafe with an excellent pedigree with their cafe in Victoria St Clifton. This is great cafe with plenty of seating both outside and in Had a late lunch with good quality food and great Iced coffee. The crew worked hard and customers served with good and polite service. Food and drinks served at the table.
The last but one day of the current exhibition! Some interesting stuff! Autumn open exhibition coming soon. If you are likely to go often, their Art Pass is a good buy. £15 and valid for a year.
Great exhibitions in a lovely building. The art shows are often eclectic and inspiring, giving interesting insights into current trends and established traditions. The cafe is also worth visiting for coffee, breakfast or lunch.
Really enjoyable. Lived in the city 60byears and only visited once. Wonderful photography exhibition that was inspiring. Enjoyed visiting so much paid to be a member.
Such a beautiful place, nice little cafe too, always visit when we’re in Bristol. Love it here and the staff are truly wonderful. Grandkids love the play area downstairs too.
There are several galleries and exhibitions going on. The second floor is usually thematic. When I went, there’s an exhibition about African art, renewal and refugee. There are works of Monet, Pissarro, Heartfield etc. Downstairs there’s a gallery on Brexit and illustrations of Brexit for children’s books. The admission is free for students. There’s also an academician gallery. Definitely worth a visit. Since the exhibition changes, it may be worth it to get a membership at the RWA.
Excellent layout and the outside seating enticing now that the , patio area , for the want of a better description has been created. It is far enough away from the road to stop traffic from being intrusive. The range of cakes and pastries is mouthwatering. The breakfast and lunch menus though not extensive are tempting and I am sure tasty. Coffee very good.
What a wonderful Gallery. A truly beautiful building with a cafe serving excellent well priced food. Went for the Earth exhibition, a well conceived fusion of contemporary and traditional works. A genuinely pleasurable and thought provoking experience.
A wonderful place where you can enjoy coffee and cake inside or outside. Close to the hussle and bustle of the Triangle by Whiteladies Rd and Queens Rd junction. A great selection of hot drinks and snacks. The cakes are great and make a perfect treat to enjoy with good company or on your own. It was very busy but plenty of seating and the staff were friendly and helpful.
