It gets busy here so may be worth booking ahead. Absolutely stunning food, reasonable prices and good portion sizes. I would definitely recommend the special lassawala dish, the meat was so tender it just fell apart. Every single item we ordered was brilliant and had an individual taste. The mixed grill was huge and really well cooked. The service was good, and the owner was really friendly taking the time to talk to us. I would definitely recommend and return to eat here when I'm next in Birmingham.
Top marks Bring your own alcohol Fabulous place with really warm service. We didn't know the area and booked on the way to Birmingham based on Google reviews and have to say it didn't disappoint. Food is delicious, naan bread is massive. Bring your own alcohol is a great touch too. Menu is a bit hard to read in places red on black
We visit there on my daughter's birthday. I must say food is outstanding specially chicken tikka and tawa chicken was mind blowing. Very peaceful atmosphere, lovely decor and most importantly high in services. Staff was very friendly and nice. Highly recommended must visit and try their tawa chicken and lamb tava you gona love it. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy to access for wheelchair.
The atmosphere was warm and friendly but the food wasn't up to the mark comparatively to the prices they offer. Lassawala gosht was tender and naan was soft but dynamite prawns weren't hot . Also tawa gosht was really disappointing as it was just a normal Jalfarezi sort of chicken served on tawa. In sweets we ordered ice-cream and cookie dough. Stuffed pepper naan forgot the name was also just bland. Lassi was good. For kids we ordered chicken nuggets and fries and they were overpriced. Papadom along the chatneys were not on the house, you will have to pay. I don't know why our clothes smelt curry when we came home. The kitchen wasn't open plan so why did it happen? Lastly I recommend booking in advance because it was busy on weekdays.
The food is consistent in quality, not amazing but nothing inedible. The highlight for sure was the matka gosht, cooked well, the meat was tender and sauce flavourful, if you pay a visit then order this for sure, along with a paratha or three. We also had a tava chicken which went down well. The machle la jawab is essentially chip shop masala fish served in your standard curry house base gravy. Lassawala gosht promises a lot but definitely does not live up to the hype. Everything on the mixed grill was overcooked and dry. The chefs need to revisit this for sure, some pieces like the tandoori chicken were left pretty much untouched, that's how tough and dry it was. The lowlight of the visit was nearly throwing up after smelling the mint sauce bottle. The waiter then told me that he had just filled it that morning and it was impossible for it to be off. Of course, he then smelt it himself and took it away promptly... The restaurant itself is clean and comfortable with a good atmosphere. Toilets are fit for human use unlike the facilities in so many restaurants in Brum these days. Price is very reasonable.
Well reccomended whenever u are in Birmingham. We went there to celebrate my son graduation and wow! All the dishes are amazing, taste are perfect and i can say i had the best saag paneer, chicken tikka & mixed vege ever! The lamb beriyani so good, the lamb is so tender and i can eat the rice even by itself. Good food, good service, great ambience and value for money! Tq guys for doing extra mile for us to break our fast. Will definately come back for more!
The gaffer got us to try the new starter, prawns, your tongue tingled with the spices then it didn't and then it did again, the flavouring and spicing, amazing. Chicken saag as main with a lamb Biryani, the saag full of flavour and a good portion, the lamb in the Biryani was huge and fell apart. Always a great place to go.
Recently visited Royal Watan to experience Kashmiri food. The food was good and very tasty. We ordered prawns, rogan josh, naan, tawa chicken and potato chicken. I particularly liked the prawns. The place is really busy and famous so expect some delay in getting your order. But they offered papadama to fill that time. Overall a good Kashmiri food experience.
Welcoming staff, comfortable seating & freshly made sizzling flavorful food. Lassa Wala gosht was something I was looking forward to. Tandoori naan was an absolute delight. Parking can be an issue for some as no onsite parking. Good experience
Excellent food and service. The waiter and all staff are brilliant. Thankyou again for little man's birthday cake and candle surprise.
