Excellent track, great staff and caddy. Advance notice of shorts not being allowed to be worn in clubhouse would have been nice. Got a photo at Bobby Jones bunker.

One of the great experiences in golf, from the course, to the clubhouse ... and also the members who made us very welcome. A slightly more quirky front 9 with great strategy involved, is followed by a slightly more straightforward back 9 where the ball needs to be threaded between the numerous fairway pot bunkers. The iconic 18th makes for a great finish in front of the resplendent clubhouse. Take time to breathe in the history in the clubhouse as well. We were made to feel very welcome from the pro shop, to the hall porter, to the clubhouse and bar.
Really great links golf course. Stayed at the dormy house just next to the club house, and would really recommend this and play the course for two rounds. It's a true challenge with a lot of bunkers, so nice to have a second go the day after. Friendly staff, and good food in the club house restaurant. Will definately come back one day.
Brilliant day, fabulous course, greens were superb. Made welcome in the Club House afterwards you felt like a member! Many thanks Royal Lytham GC
Obviously this is a championship course, and is everything you would expect from a golf course of such standing. For full disclosure I play here as a guest, not a visitor which has a very different cost, and my review is from this perspective. On this particular day we had ‘proper’ links weather. Strong and changeable winds made what is already a good test of a golf, a tough test. I am thankful that with it being winter months the rough was not as high as it would have been in the summer. When you play here, and other championship courses, you are constantly reminded of the history and events that have taken place; you’re walking history as you navigate the holes. It can be distracting from you own game at times, as you become a tourist for a moment, however, this is part of the pleasure of playing here. For a visitor these courses are not cheap, but there are not many sports where you can play in exactly the same places as the professionals. Try and get a game on centre court at Wimbledon and see how far you get! Clubhouse is welcoming, food, beer and service are as you would expect, first class.
Great course, day we played weather was fine which always helps, a bit dry, need a bit of rain. Greens superb, lovely sand in bunkers, played three greenside bunkers to no more than three feet, some great holes especially 15 and 17.
exceptional golf course with a lot of history. Hole numbers 8 and 18 are the keyholes. What disturbed me are the overloaded paper baskets on the tees, it should not actually occur at this top spot. Definitely go visit the clubhouse which is full of memorabilia. Find George Lowe's showcase from 1900 and admire the design study of his golf clubs. I'm sure someone will find these designs again and build new clubs.
This is a lovely golf course. We attended the amiture golf championships there and was not disappointed with the condition of the golf course. We were unable to go into the club house so unfortunately can't comment, but have been told that its very nice.
Great experience! Incredible golf course. Fantastic staff. Unbelievable
