The food here is always delicious and fresh. Staff is very helpful. My partner and I love this place
Having not used The Royal Anchor for well over 12 months due to a bad experience. I was pleasantly surprised to find a very friendly and welcoming feeling on entering the premises. The bar staff and Mo could not have been more helpful and the food was excellent. Will definitely be returning.
A great Sunday Roast for a price that makes it taste even better. Cheap and cheerful local pub. Friendly staff. Orders are slow, as not many staff serving behind the bar, but everything else was more than satisfactory. Just accept that there will be a slight wait and you will have an enjoyable drink or meal. We ordered two roasts, chicken and beef, the beef was excellent, really tender. Great value as on a deal £13.49 for 2. What's not to like
Andy, our waiter was superb. He went above and beyond the 'call of duty' to make sure our meal was exactly what we wanted. No-one can complain about the prices in this time of price inflation. Excellent value. Beth, at the bar, was as helpful as can be with the car park which is sub-contracted out to Britannia Parking to prevent abusive parking in the town centre. I heartily recommend.
Myself, daughter and dad visited for lunch yesterday. We had a great meal, served with a smile. Although the staff were very busy they were all friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Debbie & Beth and Sandra. We will be back. From Michelle, Mia & Brian.
We hadn't been here for a few years as previously the food wasn't great, but decided to give it a go again as its' local. Wow the food and the price was truly amazing! There were 9 of us and not only did the food all come out together it was freshly cooked and cooked to perfection; my husband said the mixed grill was one of the best he had ever had! Service from Martin, Bex and Courtney was also superb - thank you. Will definitely be going back again VERY soon!
Fantastic service staff are friendly and welcoming, food was fantastic and nice size portion, cooked well and hot , table was clean tidy, really enjoyed it all ,
The food is good. However the manager spent most of our time arguing with the other staff. She seemed to want to rule the place like a dictatorship. It may be best to take staff members behind closed doors when you are having a disagreement and not stand behind the bar shouting across the pub.
In what world is this burger acceptable, no sauce, no garnish. Only reason I never took it back was that I was not feeling well.
We visited as we fancied something different for lunch, we entered via the rear entrance and there was no signage to say we need to be seated, so we went and found an empty table, the pub was not busy at all at this time, while I was entering our car details in the tablet at the bar, my wife who suffers with anxiety was confronted by a rude obnoxious member of staff who was having ago that we sat down at a table without waiting. Had he been doing his job and not chatting to the locals say at the sofa he may have noticed us enter the pub, also if there was signage to say we need to wait to be seated this would have helped. If this is the kind of person you want to be the face of the pub, then i highly suggest you put him on a people skills course, or provide some training towards how to treat customers in a friendly and welcoming fashion, and how not to be rude and obnoxious. Due to this my wife was on edge the whole time we were there, and she could not wait to leave. We will not be visiting again, it seems that unless you are a regular local, you will be stared at by the patrons and made to feel that you are not welcome in this pub. I wanted to give 1 star, however the food was great so no complaints there. But yeah avoid like the plague if your looking for a family friendly and welcoming pub, as this certainly is not.
