My mom had breathing problems when we came in on 30/06/2024. The lady at the reception was very helpful and respectful. Even though there was so many people and there was a lot of pressure, all the staff were calm despite the stress. Special thanks to Dr Hisham for helping mum and working so late at night, and also the nurses…
I wish there was 0 stars. I was there at night for 4 hours, they said they called my name but they didn't. I was there with a complex eye issue which 111 advised a and e. The nurses discharged me whilst I was sat in a and e and never told me. When the nurse realised, no help was given, they didn't tell the doctor I was still here and nobody came to examine me. A waste of 4 hours, I was in a lot of pain and they clearly didn't shout my name. Its honestly ridiculous, I will be taking my complaint further and I hope everyone else does too.
Before I give all the bad points the staff are doing their best under a under funded NHS. I got a bed eventually at 3.30 in the morning after waiting for hours in an over crowded waiting area. The bed had no pillow there was none spare, had to use my rolled up coat. Breakfast came, it was not good small bowl of cereal and a piece of rubbery toast. Dinner was a cup of soup and a tasteless sandwich. Glad I'd gone home before tea, dread to think what that would have been. This Tory government should be ashamed of itself. They soon find large amounts of money for other schemes and countries.
It's not the fault of hospital staff entirely....there were at least 7 different patients who had 2 or 3 relatives or friends with them...no need... taking up valuable space for people who needed help...nurse asked people to leave iff they were not in need of treatment...no body budged...then emergency came in...they just don't have the staff...plus people were hanging around because they are homeless...other people were there for what seemed like no reason...uff they charged people to stay that didn't need to be there...it would soon empty...I said I'll get T V here...see who disappeared quite quickly because they claim benefits...fraud saying they can't leave the house. Yeah right...it was like a night out for them...
Avoid if you can! I had an emergency urology op and had to wait until the following day. There were no beds for urology so I was told I had to wait in A&E all night on a chair being ignored. There were people on corridors everywhere- a simple solution- put people who are waiting for an operation the following day in to a separate room or space. The following morning 6 beds magically appeared which had clearly not been used that night- we weren't checked up on inA&E so why not leave us in there. Bolton and Preston A and E so much better- avoid Wigan if you can...
