I found this gem of a museum just by chance, i was actually lost driving around Bury St.Edmunds. I am so glad i stumbled across it. I had a personal guide/tour of the site and am extremely impressed by the volunteer work that is being carried out here to keep history real and not forgetting the huge debt we owe all the young men and women that gave their lives during the Second World War.

Rougham Control Tower Museum is right next door to Rougham Aerodrome. This is the 94th Bomb Group (H) USAAF site, also known as RAF Bury St Edmunds. Built in 1941 and although the modern flying school use a grass airstrip, the original (Heavy Bomber) aerodrome had 3 runways, the main was 6,000ft & an additional 2 at 4,200 ft long. In its heyday the aerodrome had 2 T2 hangars. A20 Havocs; B26 Marauders & Flying Fortresses were the common aircraft based here, in addition to the aircraft 2,500 personell were based at Rougham. 329 missions were flown from rougham, the last mission to fly out of Rougham was on the 21st April 1945. My personal score for Rougham Control Tower Museum is 10/10 & I award them my Gold Star for Excellence! Rougham Control Tower Museum kindly permitted me exclusive rights for my photos used in this review.
