Great staff, but some could do with a bit more training. Nice pub/restaurant with a huge range of drinks including a few cask ales. Inside and outside dining with a lovely conservatory. A small free car park to the side. Food generally OK but missing items could be announced before choosing, rather than being told after the food is served. Reasonable prices for a tourist area.
Sometimes it's something done well, not fancy that earns a pub continued custom. So it was with the Riverside late Aug 22. Pub lunch for two: Doom Bar beer and a cider washing down fish, chips & peas and a gluten free burger with tasty tomato relish & chips. Tasty, well cooked food nicely presented. There was a notice in the bar stating they were due to close temporarily soon for a refurbishment. To be fair, it needs a bit of a revamp inside and out in the fairly large garden area ... that would be enough to warrant a 5 star review, until then it's 4 from me on this visit. Helpful, considerate staff making a summer afternoon very pleasant.
Had a really nice family meal here, and staff were super friendly. Will definitely return. A lovely outside play area for the kids too so long as the weather is nice.

Had a wonderful meal at The Riverside Inn today. Absolutely delicious and passed on compliments to the chef. The waitress/bar maid was friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. Will definitely look forward to going there again.
We were passing through and needed a bite so popped in. I had a bacon cheese burger my family had a plain burger and a chicken burger. They were really tasty. We had skinny fries with them that were little on the limp side but otherwise we enjoyed our food. I washed mine down with a pint of draught scrumpy which was really refreshing. The staff were friendly and the place was spotlessly clean. The real fire burning really gave the place a inviting atmosphere.
Went here for lunch - big servings, lots of choices, great pub with locals and tourists and excellent bar staff. We had a seafood pie and fish and chips - good value for money. Oh, and it’s dog friendly which is always great!
Absolutely Exquisite. In for lunch this past weekend and was instantly amazed by the decor. The service was immaculate. One particular waiter called Rowan was my personal highlight. His charming personality along with his sweet looks really provided me with an elegant dining experience unmatchable by any of the local competitors. I would recommend highly the riverside inn to anyone visiting Cheddar.10/10

Popped in with my partner for a bite to eat after visiting cheddar gorge. Was welcomed by a friendly gentleman working the bar who offered a menu. The food is reasonably priced, and after a short wait it was served. Delicious, both of our meals were fresh, hot and a really good portion size. Will definitely be coming back in the future.
