If I could give minus star that would be great a 1 star is too nice. Absolutely impossible to get hold of for an appointment when you call on time you get out through the whole 15 minute lecture 4/5 times as a loop and then finally get put into a cue and find yourself caller number 5000
The Doctors don’t care about patients, they care about flicking through appointments at the speed of light to get home quicker. Unless you tell them you’ve plans to harm yourself, they don’t care for your mental health. The reception staff act like you’ve just attacked their Nan and the partners think they’re too qualified to actually deal with problems that aren’t blatantly obvious. Only positive are the trainee doctors who seem to actually try and help patients. Worst practice in Bridgend
Used to function fine 10 years ago. Now just seems like an oversubscribed mess. You have to listen to 3 minutes of talking before the phone system tells you there are no appointments. Next if you get past that stage and into lucky caller number 19 you get tricked into thinking there ARE appointments available! However after 40 minutes of the most distorted, ear destroying noise / music you get advised there are actually none. So you call back in the afternoon, spend another 30 mins on the phone to be told no appointments and advised to try again at 8AM. If you are new to the area, do not apply. There are too many patients and not enough staff or doctors. You cannot walk in to make an appointment, cannot send a letter. Online you have Econsult which is only available for 10 minutes after 8AM so you better be a fast typer. Future appointments have to be made but are 3-4 weeks in advance. The website is a mess with so much information that is simply not required. If this was a company it would have gone bankrupt years ago due to bad management. Can be very dangerous if you have serious health requirements. After 3 days of trying I have just had to pay £120 for an online private GP appointment.
I was discharged from hospital on the17th July. Then had a follow up appointment with the consultant on the 28th I was given a prescription for the surgery. As my condition was life threatening we took the prescription straight in. I followed that up with a phone call to check all was OK. Apparently it was. Yesterday my wife went to the pharmacy only to be told the medication that will keep me alive was not there. I called surgery and the receptionist was lovely and extremely helpful and completed a one off prescription which had to be collected today after 1700hrs In this extreme heat my wife walked to the surgery only to be told the prescription had been sent to broadlands pharmacy. I was told that could not happen yesterday. Why not call me to tell me that plans have changed Both my wife and I doubt that you realise that you are dealing with seriously ill people and also making others ill with stress as my wife was shaking when she got home. This lack of communication is unacceptable and must change with immediate effect for the benefit of both patients and families and the wasted time you spend with confused patients and their families.
I really like Riverdale Surgery. Everyone is so smiley there. It is very clean and reasonable waiting times. Special thanks to Dr. Melville Jones and Dr. Morgan for providing my children and my husband and myself with excellent medical and physical care and their kindness Thank you so much
if I could give this place a minus I would. it's a joke that's not even funny. Been trying for two weeks to get see by a doctor via phone appointment which is impossible. it's quicker to get to A&E and get seen to within the hour! the last time I got seen the doctor didn't seem intrested and looked like he was their for the money and not for the people.
very very difficult to get an appointment. My fathers Consutant was even trying to get through which shows you how urgent the appointment was but did not have the time to keep trying because they are busy or wait in the queue for such a long time. I even went in because I could not get through by phone and was told I couldn't make an appointment that way! This is really poor and it is concerning how elderly and vulnerable people would fair within this system. It also doesn't work for people who have work responsibilities and can not just take hours out of their day to keep phoning. The phone line says they open at 8am, as did the receptionist when I went in but it seems they don't actually open until 9am.
Phoned monday for an appointment and was told it was booked for Thursday. Without a doubt i was told Thursday on the phone. Turned up Thursday, earlier than approx. appointment time to check what time exactly it was and was told my appointment had been booked for Tuesday, so i have missed it.. thanks for that Why do they not send appointment confirmation emails or texts to prevent this happening to anyone else.
Trying to make a appointment by telephone is stressful and impossible, redialling constantly having to listen to a 15 min speech each time, e consult doesn’t seem to be working either. 2 weeks trying to talk to a doctor is not acceptable
After being discharged from the mental health unit locally, my care was handed back to Riversdale surgery. This was in April 2021. Since then, it has been nothing but confusion, delays in my extremely important prescriptions, staff with no idea why my prescriptions and dosages are being incorrectly dispensed and no one to speak to directly to rectify this - the pharmacist, receptionists seem to shrug their shoulder over the phone line. I am on fortnightly prescriptions for safety reasons - I have been for nearly a year now. These were automatically dispensed to my pharmacy where I would routinely collect. As of 2-3 months ago, the pharmacy stopped receiving my prescriptions and they had been told I was ordering my repeat prescriptions online first I had heard of this!. I did order online, and the prescription was not sent to the pharmacy until the surgery was contacted and asked to rectify their mistake. This has happened 4 or 5 times now and although they know they're making a mistake, they're doing nothing to rectify it. Around 6-8 months ago I spoke via telephone to a doctor who changed my prescription - the follwing prescription was at the new dosage, however all subsequent prescriptions reverted to the lower dosage. I explained this to another doctor around 6 weeks ago and he made sure the correct dosages were on my prescription and told me to ask directly for him whenever I called next. This is having an extremely negative effect on my mental health - if I don't take the dosages I have been prescribed I end up under involuntary section, as past experience has shown. Should Riversdale be the cause of a further decline in my mental health I will be taking this further. I will be contacting the practise manager today to make a formal complaint.
