Great local restaurant with a relaxed and comfortable vibe. The menu offers a lot of plant based dishes, perfect for vegetarians and vegans, but there are meat and sustainable seafood dishes too. Overall the food is prepared really well, perhaps a little undersesoned but that allows you to add salt flakes to your preference. There's plenty of seating indoors, and some cafe style seating out the front. Service is very friendly.
A good experience but not an awesome experience as I was expecting. I can’t help but think that the emphasis on clean/natural/call it what you want as driven the dishes to be so edgy that they appear a little strange. In parts the flavours are awesome but then that seems spoilt by the one element too much technique. You do need to go just to experience but it won’t be for everyone.
Great place to dine, fab atmosphere. Love the decor. Great bar upstairs. Food has lost it's touch since opening. I remember it being top notch before. Service is reasonable.
We had the plaice and the vegan nut roast. Both were fantastic and perfectly cooked. The real standout stars were the vegetable dishes though - the salad that came with my plaice was hands down the best I’ve had in a while - who would’ve thought kimchi, beetroot and carrot go well in a salad - and Szechuan pepper flavoured sprouts were also a revelation. The sticky parsnip pudding was divine - tasted just like sticky toffee pudding too.
Hi Team, thank you so much for an incredible experience yesterday for lunch, I wish I had found you earlier cause I have been missing out. From the warm greeting on arrival to table service it was all exceptional. The menu was not only creatively exciting it as also nutritious and very good value for money. My guests from Australia said it was the best food experience they have had in a month travelling through Spain and the UK so well done. I will be returning with more friends on a Friday vey soon.
Fantastic!! Amazing food - we had the Sunday roast, and it was probably one of, if not, the best restaurant/pub ones I've ever had - in a lovely relaxing environment served by really friendly and helpful staff.
OUTSTANDING, the food, surroundings and all the staff cannot be praised enough. It was a wonderful surprise for my birthday and I would highly recommend The River Cottage Canteen to everyone.
A wonderful restaurant. We received a warm welcome and our servers were amazing. Always smiling and happy to help. Food was great, I preferred what my friend had, which was a vegetarian dish to my chicken but both were delicious.

One of my favourite restaurants, have been several times for lunch or dinner and have yet to be disappointed. Highly recommend the Sunday Roast need to pre-book as it's busy. Latest visit was for a Saturday lunch, didn't have to wait for a table or long for food although it was reasonably busy. The vegetables are one of the main highlights of this place, always really flavourful, especially the carrots. Went for the lamb merguez on this visit, apparently it's one of their most popular dishes and I can see why - 2 lamb sausages, a lamb chop and small loin steak served with salad and delicious flatbread. Didn't disappoint
