Buying my car from Ripley was an interesting experience.,,,for them and for me. The car is a rare model, and was in excellent condition. Jason agreed to make some small, but worthwhile modifications to the car to clinch the sale for the asking price. Within a week of delivery however, there was a malfunction with the roof. He paid for the repairs without me having to raise my voice. But while the car was being road-tested before being returned, another malfunction arose which all parties dealer, owner, warranty company could argue was not their responsibility. Sense prevailed, and it maintains my faith in human nature. I'd buy again from Jason. He cares for the cars he sells
I bought a lovely Audi from Jason just before Xmas. The car was immaculately prepared and valetted. It has been a struggle for me to keep it that way! The transaction was easy. After taking delivery of the car there were a few minor issues which you woud expect with an older car, but these were quickly dealt with by them without question or fuss. Could not fault their customer service.
Copy of an email to Jason at Ripley Carriages as there’s no way to actually email via his website other than a standard car enquiry… Jason, I wanted to follow up our discussions, having spoken to Denise and finally received the refund after chasing for it. The whole experience of dealing with you started well enough with the reassurance from you that you based your business on a reputation of trust and honesty and once a deposit was paid then I could view, pay for and collect the car – even if I had to delay my visit and wait for your seat finisher to arrive. As you know, I then paid the deposit you requested in good faith and you confirmed that the car would be held until my visit and that you’d follow up on the other texts I sent you. The whole process then deteriorated due to your erratic behaviour and the fact that you did not answer the phone or respond to my messages. I simply do not believe the story about someone accidentally selling the car when we’d spoke and texted many times on it. If you can’t communicate to your staff within a small business and advise them on what to sell and what not to sell then that’s pretty amateurish at best. No doubt you had a quicker route to making your margin on this car and you opted for that prior to going abroad because it was easier for you and, well, who cares about the customer in reality. It’s been a totally unpleasant experience dealing with your company and I intend to follow this up providing feedback to your local trading standards office. I should have taken more note of the negative reviews there are online about you and Ripley Carriages as they turned out to be true. I’ve dealt with many car retailers in the past and generally I felt that there was a growing level of professionalism, honesty and customer focus in the industry but dealing with you and Ripley Carriages has destroyed that completely – well done. To renege on a sale after taking a deposit at the last minute is one thing and indicates a dishonest and untrustworthy approach but to then leave Denise to face the music is completely disrespectful to your staff. One of the worst retail experiences I’ve had and a complete waste of time.
I bought a Volkswagon Polo GTI from Jason and Ripley carriage and I am very happy with the service I received. Jason was a true gentleman to deal with and fulfilled every promise. I live at the other end of the country but the mileage didn't effect the level of good service i experienced. The car was in tip top condition when it arrived and it arrived exactly when Jason said it woulddriven all the way up to Lancashire by the lovely Maralyn. I would recommend this dealership to anyone! Thanks again Jason, me and my Phantom are very happy together!
Beware! - Thought I had better warn others of my experience with this company. At the beginning of last week Monday, I phoned this company about a particular car they were advertising Subaru WRX and was told it was coming in as a part-X later in the week. I was told there was a huge amount of interest on it, and I therefore needed to pay a £200 REFUNDABLE deposit to have first option to view the car when it arrived, and that my deposit would be refunded in full if I was not happy when I actually viewed the vehicle. I finally got a call back on the Thursday saying the car had arrived on site and I could now view. So I arranged to come down ASAP at 2PM on the same day to view. When I arrived, I could quickly see that the car had a major respray, which wasn't of a great standard. I also noticed that there was no oil showing on the dipstick which I mentioned. I quickly decided it wasn't the car for me, and duly requested my deposit to be refunded as had previously been agreed. I was then told that they were unable to do the refund because, QUOTE: "It takes 28 days for the funds to hit their account, and I should therefore phone my credit card company and ask them to stop the payment instead!" I challenged this but was told the same thing. Upon arriving home, I immediately phoned my credit card company, and they advised that this was complete rubbish, and the company could have easily refunded this amount, there and then! My credit card company have therefore immediately offered to step in and deal with the matter in order to retrieve my refundable deposit. However, I still think this is very poor conduct on behalf of the Ripley Carriage Company, and totally misleading. I therefore wanted to warn other potential purchasers what to expect from this company if they get asked to also pay a deposit because "a car is apparently receiving a lot of interest!!!". I shall update this post accordingly.
I bought a vehicle from Jason a couple of months back, there was a couple of issues that needed resolving, however Jason was unable to resolve them in the first instance but gave me his word that the issues would be resolved. Jason was true to his word and provided a stand in vehicle while he rectified the minor faults. Very happy with the final outcome and would happily buy another vehicle from him.
I agreed a price with Jason of £7.3k for a 330Ci and was told the side mirror would be fixed before collection so I left a £250 deposit. It turned out not to be the switch but required a whole new motor mechanism which was a lot more expensive so, being a reasonable person, I even offered to pay an extra £100 as long as they'd detail the part changed on the invoice. They refused and insisted on refunding my deposit which I received a day or so later. I suspected they'd used this reasonable request as an excuse to pull out of the sale as they decided it cost too much to fix and were selling the car too cheaply to me and when I called earlier today to ask if it was still available I was told by Jason's brother it had been sold to someone who was prepared to pay their full asking price of £8k. Draw your own conclusion!
Bought a Bentley from Jason. Had one or two issues with it in the first fortnight. However Jason had it collected from my home and gave me a loan car for a week. It was returned , correctly fixed, with no haggling. Good experience, helpful and responsive. Would happily recommend to others and woul return as a customer.
No stars as has been said by others all starts well and is very helpful but once the deal is done there is no communication, always an issue at home and stress etc etc. Delivered vehicle gave fair price for px but issues since have been ignored; My vehicle was advertised as FSH, this was not present but was assured it was and the print out would be supplied when the car is delivered. However it appears that there in history with this vehicle at all. The heaters did not work, Jason said he would pay for the part, never did. The rear wash wipe did not work. Jason said it did so would get that done under the supplied 12 month warranty, However the warranty i have is not recognised by the warranty company as he never put it in! I would avoid at all costs especially if you are parting with a lot of money!
Picked up my new Porsche 911 last weekend off Jason and how pleased I am, it was everything and more I could of wished for. I was picked up at the train station and taken straight to see the car. Once I had decided to buy the car after a good test drive Jason filled the petrol tank up to the brim for me which was not part of the deal so well happy.Drove it approx 140 miles home without any problems so all I can say now is thanks Ripley Carriage and of course Jason.
