Walked in without having booked a table and had a really lovely meal.Service was great, food was great and the ambience was lovely. I would definitely recommend this place. I had the Prawns to start and Linguine as my main. If you visit this restaurant please try these dishes.. they were amazing. Hats off to the chef and staff at Riobello
Should have written this a month ago. Took a party of 8 for Saturday lunch for my mothers 90th birthday. This is a superb Italian restaurant with authentic dishes and NOT the British idea of Italian food. The quality of food was exceptional with everything cooked freshly and a menu that reflected seasonal variation and availability. Level of service was equally exceptional and I thank Riobello for making my mothers day so wonderful. Definitely one to go back too.
Came as a group for our Christmas meal and although it seemed like a nice atmosphere, I was extremely disappointed in the end. My tortellini portion was far too small - it looked more like a starter than a main, and was quite bland. Others seemed to have decent sized pizzas would recommend ordering pizzas instead if you want a better sized main. I've never still felt hungry after a main.. and had to actually fill up on the cheesecake dessert. This was okay but became too sickly sweet in the end. Waiting staff were friendly but when it came towards the end of the meal I couldn't help thinking they wanted us to leave as soon as possible. With the bill, they don't seem to provide a print out of all the food and its prices, and gave a hand-written receipt instead - this made it a pain to calculate what we each owed and was frustrating! Overall not the best experience considering I'd heard good things about Riobello previously. I won't be coming back again sadly.
Went there for a team lunch time meal on 5th December. There were 9 of if in total. Hadn't been there before. I provided the food choices in advance. We didn't have to wait long for our meals and everything that was served was excellent - from the starters through to the desserts. One of our party didn't usually have desserts but decided to have one after seeing them dished out and he thoroughly enjoyed it!!!! Everyone was enjoyed their meals and we would definitely be coming to this restaurant again. Compliments to the proprietor and chef.
Authentic, quality Italian food, which is what you expect in Bedford! I went for the rigatoni main course and it was very tasty and perfectly filling. Just the right portion size. My friend had the prawn starter. I stole one of the prawns which were served in a nice thick sauce. Utterly delicious! Our party of five had no complaints and left very happy!
I wrote my main review on trip advisor. I went to this restaurant with my niece and nephew and my husband just before Christmas. All I will say is that the restaurant, staff, food and ambiance was the best I have had the pleasure in experiencing for a long time. Independent Italian restaurant with huge amount of class. The menu is staggering. Will enquirer for hubby's 50th in April.
I would have like to have given five stars but it was not a great experience. We arrived fifteen minutes early for our booking and was not greeted in the way I would of expected. After deciding where we wanted to sit the menu was bought out to us. As we were deciding on want to have the waitress ask for our drinks order, at the same time telling us that the ovens were not working so there would be no pizza or garlic bread. half the menu disappeared right there. Oh well!!!! As we ordered our drinks we went to order starters and was rudely told “ I’ll take your order once I’ve got your drinks, I can’t do both!!! drinks arrived starters were ordered..... as we waited for our starters people were arriving and being turned away. Eventually I heard the waitress say sorry we have no chef tonight so unless you’ve booked in advance we can’t seat you. No wonder our food took so long to arrive. The starter was reasonable, the lasagne was pasta soup and I couldn’t find any meat between the layers and my son’s rigatoni had two meat balls in the whole dish. The desert was a slight let down. Wasn’t as described on the menu and I’ve never eaten tirimisu which came with a fruit smiley face placed on top. My son ordered a mocha coffee and received a expresso, by this time I’d lost the will to carry on..... You may wonder why I didn’t complain at the time. Well the waitress did ask if everything was ok on several occasions but seeing as she was trying her best to cook the meals and serve, I really don’t think it would of helped the situation. There was a man in the background who appeared when we went to pay but no apology was fourth coming. I wish they had told us as soon as we arrived about there situation as there was another family seated so they must of known at that point they had no chef. They had my mobile number, they could of rung and rescheduled our reservation. Or they should of closed for the night. Really poor service. Even if the restaurant was working as it should the food wasn’t great.
My husband and I were down in Bedford just overnight for a family christening and wanted somewhere to eat near our hotel. Riobello's restaurant was near by and sounded lovely...it didn't disappoint!!! We hadn't booked it was a Saturday night and they squeezed us in, looked after us beautifully and never made us feel rushed. The food was delicious, filling and well presented. The staff warm, friendly and efficient. We would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Bedford but best to book to make sure you get in as unsurprisingly they get booked up!!! Thank you for a lovely evening Riobello.
Now a truly Italian gem, with owner-manger Giovanni Orlandini and the chefs all of Italian extraction. Word is this restaurant had lost its way until a couple of years ago, but it's become a bright and stylish restaurant under this management, with clean lines and a menu focused on fresh and traditional flavours. Despite its deep Italian roots, the restaurant welcomes people of diverse dietary requirements and is happy to adapt dishes, including for vegan and gluten free diets. And everything we ate was delicious!
We found out about this wonderful restaurant by accident. We could not get a table for our previous favourite Italian eatery last night so decided to try Riobello's and were so glad that we did. Greeted by a warm and friendly waiting staff who throughout the meal were all very helpful and attentive. Rarely do you have a meal where both of you enjoyed each others choices as much as your own, and for three courses with a very drinkable bottle of wine for £52 it is very good value for money. And to add all the dishes are genuine beautifully cooked authentic Italian fare. The spicy Italian sausage for starter is to die for, as were my partners garlic mushrooms. Giovani and his partner run a little treasure house that I am so pleased I discovered, so trust me if your previous favourite is fully booked give them a go, you will be very glad you did. We will be back for more very son. Mark & Sharon.
