Good location close to parliament. Great RICS member facilities, Library, professional bookshop, members lounge, Roux Restaurant at several levels. Wonderful old world bar great liquid stock traditional scotch whisky and all you come to expect when thinking of fine food and dining. Conferences rooms photo opportunities balcony overlooking Parliament sq.
This organisation pretends to offer reassurance that their ‘qualified’ members are competent. Under the shiny veneer of their media output the truth is they prove themselves incapable of properly investigating serious negligence or taking action against rogue Surveyors in the UK. That might sound like sour grapes - well it’s the opinion of a Chartered Surveyor with a 40 year career behind him. RICS deserves a royal charter about as much as The Post Office!
Attended a training seminar, excellent day, pace of day good, snacks supplied and easy to find. Wow parliament square very busy even at 9 am
A great institute and centre for members and their guests with a business suite, library and cafe, open from 7am-8pm. Unfortunately not open on weekends.
Members only.... Great facilities for meeting etc. Check before going - the restaurant hasn't yet recovered from Covid - while I don't mind turning the kettle on, you'll be disappointed if you expect to entertain a client for a quick bite or a 'frothy caramel mackyarto'. Library/research facilities not yet re-opened, either.
Very shady, I got referred. Another guy who had worse case studies than mine. Only submitted to meet deadline and see what needs improving actually passed. Over the years i checked other people works quiet shocked to see who passes who doesn’t. In short they select who passes and fails. Not really respectable Better institution out there with better support and guidance and are respected in there fields.
Headquarters of an esteemed institution, in a prime location, accessible to members and guests. Has some great meeting rooms and a nice cafeteria with good food
RICS surveyors are of questionable value if you are buying a house. RICS surveyor missed clear breach of GasSafe regulations built-over polyethylene gas mains & that stairs breached 42' maximum pitch on survey ahead of purchase. RICS not interested in any follow up action to complaint, citing the usual get-out clauses... Rather than spend a couple of thousand pounds on a RICS surveyor I would suggest to any buyer that they would be better off spending that money to take a gas engineer, electrician and decent builder around a potential purchase to spot any serious defects / breaches of building Regs.
We visited RICS during the London Open House and I recommend it; just make sure you go to the roof top in which you will see fantastic views of London.
Assistance and advice moving from candidate to chartered status is very limited. Information is online only and helpdesk not very helpful unless it is about paying very high fees and then, very helpful!
