My family treated me to a birthday lunch at Retro Union, the food was really good and the service was second to none even though there was another party going on at the same time! Always call in for tea and snack and cakes when in Kettering. Would recommend to anyone, hopefully going to try an afternoon tea, they look scrummy!
I had a fondue on friday night with the family to celebrate my birthday and couldn't ask for better service, everyone is friendly and very helpful. The food was outstanding too. And as I was made to feel so welcome I arranged to meet friends there on saturday too to celebrate with them, again we were treated with outstanding service. The cocktails are lovely, I highly recommend the chocolate orange. I will definately be going back.
Paid £12 a head for a "Harry potter themed" party in the back room where all the things that were promised were not delivered, as it was apparent that it was too much effort, there was some confusion regarding the booking, on arrival were allowed order a drink on one bar and then not allowed to take it through to the next bar, even though there is a staircase through from one to the next apparently they're different bars. There were 2 sets of probably Poundland Harry potter style glasses on the table, 6 plastic jars containing less than a 20p worth of Haribo in "spell jars" We had agreed to write goodbye letters to our friend who the party was for, which were then to be suspended in the air as if magic in keeping with the theme of the letters flying to Harry whilst there was 2 letters on nice paper sealed well with a wax seal, they were not suspended in air, when we had the absolute temerity to question it we were dealt with in a rude and condescending manner. I then tried to have a conversation with my friend as she had bought a cake for our friend and there was some debate on which of the two bars it was acceptable to eat the cake in, fair enough, but when I expressed surprise to my friend in a private conversation about how awkward it was arranging this the "manager" of the hideaway bar back room jumped into a conversation that wasn't directed at her, to defend her bars honour, when I told her I was not talking to her calmly she ran to the retro union manager and told her I was shouting at a member of staff not true If you like paying £3 a bottle for Budweiser, rude staff, pretentious gimmick then by all means head on down. Would give 0 stars if it was an option. Thoroughly disappointed
Had lunch last week with a friend. Lovely experience can't wait to go back. Freshly prepared food and real tea.
Best leafed tea, nice simple menu ... hassle free hangover food and a chill place to read while blazed.
Good food and drinks reasonably priced
Always happy to help and service is great. it's a bit different.
Hmm. Weird place.
