The studio we booked pro grade had a decent enough PA, and amps, but was grubby and had litter on the floor, as did the communal areas. Pirate studio in Salford seems better maintained.
It took us 20 minutes out of our hour to get the amps working. The problem was the wires they provided. Someone helped us efficiently on the phone. However, we were given no compensation afterwards. Imagine if the cinema charged you full price for 2/3 of a film!? Once the room was set up and everything working it was great.
Lights didn't work, place was a mess, equipment is absolutely flogged
Love the studios, but wish that other uses respected the facilities.
Room was cancelled last minute with credit offered instead of refund. Musicians had already begun travelling from opposite ends of the country to attend the rehearsal. Wasn’t made aware that alternative rooms were available an hour later. When I finally arrived to an alternative room. Room 11, salford the premium, most expensive room in the building it was in such a state that it took almost 90 mins half of the session to get the sound set up. Leads everywhere, leads missing, on stage monitors were very crackly, power lead for one of the monitors missing, Snare skin was worn past being usable. The room was advertised as having adjustable, coloured lighting which we were intending to use for recording footage. Unsure if the footage will actually be useable as the state of the room in said footage is bordering on embarrassing and may be damaging to not only my brand, but also Pirates. I’m not a high maintenance artist in comparison to a lot of my peers, I simply expect what was advertised and what I had paid for - a premium industry standard rehearsal space. This was not what was on offer and that is not acceptable. Will be advising all musician friends not to use this site as it was a total waste of my money and more importantly mine and my musicians’ time.
Use it for dj practice great booths clean tidy and great decks and lighting booths bit on small side when in a group but idea for one to one teaching or single person sessions
This place is fantastic... When everything works. Two sessions a month apart in room 1 and the ceiling lights were STILL not working. Another group of lads were double booked in our room for the last hour of the session. Room 5 has an amazingly temperamental play/pause button which goes off randomly and in room 1 the decks straight up don't work from time to time. They just fob you off with 10% off codes, even when a whole session gets cancelled.
Very poor condition of the equipment. Sliders bent. Knobs missing and only one monitor speaker working. One of the decks was in very poor condition Real shame as pirate used to be a brilliant place to go.
Equipment doesn't work properly and no soap opera n any of the toilets, also five of us that used this place recently got covid after using this place, coincendence? I think not. This place needs someone on sight to oversee things but instead just told to message with any issues and it's all a bit lazy and half arsed. I really don't know what my two stars rating is for, lighting is shocking in rooms, have to turn on phone torch to see the pa which doesn't work when contacting them with complaints and problems they just offer you money off your next booking, only to come back and faced with the exact same issues, nothing gets resolved even when they say we will contact the appropriate people to resolve, it think I would prefer to pay an extra tenner to somewhere decent
Good night, however Place was a mess when we arrived. Probably need some sort of security guard or maintenance.
