About

An independent hotel on the sea front in the beautiful Suffolk coastal town of Aldeburgh

Story

The Wentworth is different. Almost uniquely the hotel has been managed by a member of the same family, the Pritt family, since 1920 and so for more than 85 years there has been a continuous thread linking the past to the future.

We value tradition and the standards it sets us, but at the same time we are very aware that we have to meet the changing requirements of today's guests. In many ways, the Wentworth is everything a seaside hotel should be - a blend of the traditional and contemporary.

Have stayed and eaten in the Wentworth multiple times, a family favourite. Can't recall ever being unhappy with any of the services provided. Local beer, locally produced menu, very friendly staff, just a one off hotel, owned by the same family as long as my mother remembers! Love looking out over the beach and fishing boats to the North Sea, and the sun rise if you haven't had too much ghost ship..
We visited to celebrate my sister's birthday - met up for a family afternoon tea. Lovely food - and they catered for my husband's dairy allergy with no fuss at all - even offering non dairy 'milk' to go with his coffee. We were looked after by a charming young man - wish I could remember his name. He sorted everything for us including getting the birthday cake lit and delivered. We will be back again - thank you
We stayed at the Wentworth Hotel last week for 3 x nights. Excellent rooms and restaurant. The room was beautifully decorated room 24 with a seaview. The staff were very attentive and the manager greeted us when we arrived. Highly recommend. We shall book again.Rooms: 5/5
The rooms and the amenities at the hotel are absolutely fantastic, it’s clean, beautifully presented and very comfy. Unfortunately the manner of some of the staff made our stay disappointing including being laughed at when I asked whether we could have a large family group join for breakfast- a long shot, but you never know! For us this is our second visit where we’ve been made to feel embarrassed by staff for making an enquiry during our stay. Its a real shame, and I think we shall be staying elsewhere in the future.
We had been given a luncheon voucher otherwise we would not have gone. Service was fine but it took almost an hour before we received our first course. Main courses were disappointing vegetables were hard and there were not many of them.Service: 4/5
Another excellent stay at the Wentworth. The hotel has comfy beds, good showers, lovely staff and great food breakfast is worth a particular mention but more than that it has charm, which is rare these days. Curled up on a comfy sofa, in front of a real fire and being looked after by the staff - what more could you ask for? We will be back and are happy to recommend.
No replies to emails!!! Having looked at the place etc & asked previous guests, this hotel doesn't cater for disabled, with no parking facilities etc. I thought it was now compulsory under the DDA 1995.........most places are! Other hotels in Aldeburgh are fully compliant. Sad really as looks such a lovely place
Celebrated my husbands 60th birthday here on 22nd April 2023. Had a great time. Staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, personal service was given and made it feel very special. Thankyou so much.Rooms: 5/5
