Excellent. We have visited a few times for lunch. Friendly service and the food is always hot nicely presented and very tasty.
What a great place to eat, the food was nice and the waiting staff were on top form, they were friendly and engaging and competent at their jobs., food arrived in good time and was good sized portions that were cooked really nicely. The eating area has a lovely atmosphere. I had golden scampi and cheese cake after with two bears and it only came to £20odd pound. Great value.
Really great pub. Visiting on bikes and had plenty of nice tables in the garden, although not much shade. Most of the service was very friendly. Beer was good too, and reasonable prices. Didn't try the good so can't rate that, but as a bar can't fault it.
The first thing that strikes you is how authentic the building remains. The old platform is easily recognised, with some cast markers still attached to the walls. Inside it's easy to imagine the ticket office or station masters office. The walls have large 'photos of the original station, as it was many years ago. The restaurant area is modern and leads out to a covered outdoor area and beer garden, which must be great on hotter days. The menu is varied, plenty of choice for most people's preferences. I chose the battered cod, which was very clearly freshly prepared. The fish was very moist and white, very tasty I prefer Haddock, the coating was not like traditional crispy batter, it was certainly nicely cooked, very light and a texture that was somewhat similar to a very light pastry, not what I was expecting, but was very enjoyable nonetheless. Chips can often be either a huge disappointment, or the perfect compliment to battered fish, it was definitely the latter. Nicely presented, crispy and a light brown appearance and very tasty. The prices are a little more than some pubs, but if you consider where you are, the excellent surroundings, the quality of the food and not to forget the exceptionally pleasant and efficient staff every one of them deserves praise, you actually get very good value.
What a find. Fabulous,tasty, historical. Real fire on the go. Relaxed atmosphere too. Loved it My dad drove the trains here .we never knew it existed so it was great when my friend's son told us about it and we got to take dad . Wonderful,friendly , great prices thankyou X food was too tasty to have time to photograph.
Visited the refreshment room for the second time last night, food and service was outstanding, it was our wedding anniversary and a lovely gesture of a drink was offered. Will definitely be visiting again.
Great steaks, good waiting staff. Decor/atmosphere has an 80s vibe. Paying £5 per person deposit detracts from the enjoyment a bit. It's the only game in town if you're staying in Cymmer.
Stunning location! Excellent service and most importantly the food was cooked to perfection! The price was so reasonable. We will defintely return.
