Just spent two nights here and had a great time. The pub and accommodation is beautiful and has a lovely, friendly, helpful atmosphere and the food is delicious. There is a daily changing menu with seasonality and sustainability playing a big part. Go - you’ll be glad you did. We’re already planning our return.
This is our second stay here and we love it. The room was toasty and warm and extremely comfortable. The pub has a new chef and the food is delicious with some interesting ideas. The beer is really good and well kept and all the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and work together as a team. Never disappointed staying here.Rooms: 5/5
Friday 3rd March called here for a plate lunch and was not disappointed. Both of us had a cod loin dish with samphire and shrimps which was absolutely delicious topped off with an excellent sticky toffee pudding. Good ambience and very busy for a lunchtime and my other half enjoyed the Wherry. The food here is not to be missed so give it a try and you will not be disappointed. Thank you to all staff who were very welcoming.
Despite not having transferred our booking between one system and the other and consequently not having our booking ‘officially’ they worked hard to deal with the situation and give us an enjoyable night. The kids portions were a little on the small side for 10-11 year olds my son had to have two portions of pasta but the food was delicious and the adult portions ideal. The service was exceptional, especially on a New Year’s Day when I would have thought they’d be short-staffed. I would definitely come back as their choice of wine and beer was good if not the Gin and their combination of snacks and starters work very well.
The Red Lion at Stiffkey are doing what all food pubs should be doing - small, but interesting, menu, seasonal and local produce. Really friendly, helpful staff that work well together. Posting this review as someone staying in the rooms attached to the pub the only reason no 5 star rating is no shower, only bath in room. Otherwise, keep doing what you're doing!
Great pub offering very good food. Not a restaurant, not a gastropub, just perfect. Busy bar with drinkers. Tables for those enjoying the very imaginative and well prepared food. Big bold flavours on our visit from hake with red cabbage and pigs cheek with creamy polenta. Being near Christmas the pigs in blankets ‘snack’ was well received. Good desserts too. Wines at reasonable prices and a few local beers on tap. Friendly and attentive service. Highly recommended.
Superb NYE. Great hosting, amazing food, 80s band and just faultless in ensuring we had a great night. Evening meal, entertainment and overnight stay in the rooms and breakfast was all bang on. Thank you for making it so much fun and so simple. Tom, Nik, Ben and Sarah
I have had an amazing stay Service was a genuine approach efficient caring and kind superb breakfast it is very special top quality bacon sausage and presentation. dinner was amazing I had mackerel to start skate for main and lemon posset for desert It was perfection again with care and consideration in the presentation and ingredients . Cuisine worthy of a top restaurant without excessive prices Thank you
Just had a New Year’s Eve lunch and OMG the flavors of the dishes were amazing. Hats off to the chef for his imagination and skill. Thanks to the staff who knew the dishes and could advise on what to choose. Shout out to Jack especially. Will definitely come again for dinnerService: 5/5
Had lunch which was lovely. Breakfast lovely too. But allow customers to decide if salt and pepper needed on eggs please. Sadly rooms.were booked up.Service: 5/5
