A traditional english pub; restaurant and hotel set in a beautiful Georgian coach house. They serve a great range of real ales, premium largers and fine wines. The best part is that the food is truly exquisite, you will not be disappointed!
Not the worse place I've ever stayed but I was disappointed because of the price. My room was a strange set up considering I was a solo traveller. It was a single room and a double room with a passageway between to the bathroom. I couldn't open the windows, there wasn't a fan and the curtains were hanging off the rails.
In town for Santa's arrival, called in for coffee after parade, nice coffee if a little expensive at £2.60 for a black.
Excellent, fast and friendly service. Arrived for an early dinner just after 5pm, and enjoyed a superb beetroot and blue cheese risotto
Found it quite hard to write a review for the Red lion. I will start with the staff. Very helpful and welcoming. We arrived early and they let us book in hour early. Our room was very clean and looked recently, although on closer inspection there were signs of damage, i can only assume done by previous guests. But on the whole we were very happy with it. We spent the day out and when we came down from our it was after 10 .Exspecting the kitchen to be closed we were told no we could still choose from this wonderful board of cured meats cheeses. It was delicious and very indulgent. In the morning at breakfast which was although slow, was also delicious. This meal was in the dining room. I asked the waitress about the evening menu. She explained that the cured meats and cheese and a few homemade bar snacks was all they did . We ate out that evening. By accident the local pub said they and other places offered a 10 per cent off to ted lion customers. We were not told this by the hotel. Would we go back? Yes in the summer. In the winter when its cold and raining definitely no.
Lovely room we stayed in clean and spacious. All the staff very friendly and polite. Nothing to much trouble. If you like your food then do not miss this place on your bucket list. Will definitely be staying again and passing on to anyone that needs a break. Cheers all at the red lion.
We stopped off for a quick bite and to sample some local Ales. The food was nice and the ales were lovely. The interior was luxurious and had a homely feel. There was more than enough space to ensure a bit of privacy. The locals made us feel right at home upon arriving at the pub, which isn't always the case when visiting a small village.
Absolute must when you eat in th Red Lion Pub. BBQ ribs with the most amazing BBQ sauce. Fantastic. Staff are friendly, beer and cider great but, those BBQ ribs will stay in the mind a long time. Having said that our party of 8 adults didn't have a poor meal during our weekend in Wareham.
Lovely pub, great food and v nice staff. Only downside is the bed I had was SO creaky. Had to go out and buy earplugs for the next night. Wouldn't stay here again if i had to be in either room 12 or 11. Just woke me up every slight movement! Easy to fix by buying decent beds
Nice rooms, very clean. Lovely food. But so much noise from outside! Discovered that there are 2 benches under our window and the local youth decided to spend from 11pm to 1am discussing the state of the world etc. Eventually got moved on by Police at 1am. Then Sunday morning at 8am locals decided to start erecting Christmas Lights directly outside! Shame as nice Pub/Hotel. Maybe we were just unlucky as we were told "it's really quiet here".
