Camped here for a night with friends, we only travelled from Bournemouth but it was great to go camping without the faff of taking loads of camping gear as the pub is on your doorstep for good food and beer! Campsite is really spacious with plenty of room between tent's and lots of room for playing outdoor games or exercising your dog. The pub staff were all really friendly and they had a band playing in the evening which was nice. In the morning we drove to Lulworth Cove which is a 10mim drive and beat the crowds. Will certainly be coming again!
Nice place to camp up! Food in the pub is lovely and the staff are welcoming. A little on the more expensive side but you pay for what you get! Would recommend and stay here again :
For campers and caravans with their own facilities it may be a good camping spot, but for people with a tent it is terrible. The staff is very friendly and the pub is cool, but the sanitary on the campsite is awful. There are just 2 showers and one toilet, whose seat was broken. All very old and not cleaned well. There were mold, rust, spiders, hairs, a dirty floor and one of the shower drains was clogged. There is no warm water left after a few people had a shower. There is no power outlet at all so you can't charge a phone, dry your hair or use an electric toothbrush or shaver. I have to say the feeld and location are beautiful and close to the coast and "durdle door".
Red lion pub - A group of motorcycle friends have been coming to the Red Lion for a few years now and it's always been great. Now it's changed hands and unfortunately for the worst. There is an officious little man. I believe who needs to learn some people skills. We were told the campsite was full and there were plenty of spaces They shut the bar at 10pm Fri and Sat so I presume all week and there were a couple of large groups spending money buying drinks. So very strange business decision to shut bar at 10pm. 4 of us later were sick which is most unusual and we weren't sure if it was the food, drink or Sun. In the end we settled on it being the beer as that's the only thing we all had. We won't be back ...shame Having said that the Gammon and Chips was very good
We went to this camping site with our families to stay at night but his behaviour was very rude and he didn’t respect my family. This new management is awful and not recommend it at all. Please do not waste your time and money in this terrible place as it doesn’t have good facilities as well. This message is for new manager only: Just to remind you by the UK rules you can’t be racist and you should respect all nationalities and ethnics.
Really great camping site. New showers with nice hot water. One of the best Sunday roast dinners in my life. Owner is amazing and always around to help. Whole pub team truly passion about their job Lovely Emma, Brian and chef....wow I will definetly back for camping again
Small but cozy camp site with easy access to all splendid beaches in Dorset. Staffs were very friendly, food in the bar were fresh and tasty. We absolutely enjoyed our 5 nights stay at the Red Lion camping site. Can't wait to camp there again.
This is a field with a unit with 2 showers and 2 loos - sorry but it's not a campsite. The 'pitches' are not well defined as stated online and it's certainly not pretty in any way. The staff at the pub are very pleasant but the 'campsite' really is not. It did not feel safe or secure and was not clean. We did not stay!
Such a shame, the staff working at the pub are lovely and friendly but the facilities are totally inadequate for how many pitches there are and get pretty grimy really quicky and quickly run out of toilet paper and it doesnt appear that anyone regularly checks them. But the main issue is that there are people living there and perhaps working there they entered the pub at the back so I assumed they did, not a customer entrance, that camp onsite all the time and its like their own party place. Music blaring, singing and shouting until 3am every night. If you are a couple and dont mind the noise it would be fine but if you are a family DO NOT BOOK HERE. We ended up having to speak to them which leaves a sour taste in your mouth. If they are staff, the manager needs to speak to them about their behaviour and major lack of consideration to the campers. Only plus is that it is really close to Durdle Door. But not enough to make us come back or recommend the campsite to anyone.
We had a decent weekend here, the location is great for Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. The field is relatively flat and while the showers and toilets don't look the most impressive, they were clean with plenty of hot water. There's not much protection from the wind so take plenty of tent pegs! On the Saturday night it was a little noisy but not too bad. We had one meal in the pub which was okay but not brilliant.
