It was a mixture of good and bad points, especially as I've done a lot of these golf packages now! So here we go...Upon check-in, staff were friendly and helpful, allowing us to leave our bags at reception and putting them in our rooms, when they were ready. The younger members of staff, especially the lads need a bit of work on their customer service, the rest of the staff were fine.. The Spa was clean and well maintained, the dressing gowns and slippers were a nice touch too but the "hot tub" was far too "cold"?! Considering the size of the golf complex, the golf shop was a huge let down, as it was far too small and did not sell enough of a variety of items! The staff in the shop were friendly though. The facilities in the golf area and bar were great and drinks were reasonably priced. The restaurant was great and having a carvery as the "golf package" meal was a nice bonus! A special mention to the female member of staff who worked behind the till as she couldn't be helpful enough. The rooms were clean and well maintained and with all the things you would expect to find in them, including a comfy bed! The golf course was challenging, well set out and maintained, albeit the greens were in a poor state of repairs, signs could be put up, to remind people to repair their divots! Overall a great stay but room for improvement
Very accessible from Junction 62 on the A1. A very enjoyable stay at a fabulous hotel, spa and golf courses. The rooms are big and well appointed, the beds are very comfortable. The service in all departments was good and staff happy to help. The only down side was the condition of the greens on the Prince Bishops course, they need alot of work to bring them up to a reasonable standard, all the other facilities were very good. The complex also includes beautiful chalets and lodges. Worth a visit.
Stayed here last week for graduation. The room was spotless and clean and absolutely stunning. I loved the bath. The food was lovely and top quality however, the only down fall was it wasn't very hot food so improvement could be made on this but otherwise I can not fault the place. Definately will go back in the future.Rooms: 5/5
To be honest, we wouldn't have gone if someone else hadn't been paying for our meal! The service at the carvery section was cold and unwelcoming. The deserts section was more cheerful and friendlier - especially since it was still the Christmas season. Overall, we would describe the food as like a school dinner. Nice Christmas tree though...
This is the largest spa I've visited and despite the hotel being busy, there was enough space not to feel overcrowded. The hotel room was large and well appointed. The food was good and the hotel grounds were pleasant. I'd suggest that this is an escape without young children! Rooms: Very well appointed rooms facing the golf course Nearby activities: Very close to the city of Durham but on site there is golf, a gym, very complete spa complex and massage facilities using Elemis products. Food & drinks: We enjoyed lunch in Fusion and evening meal in the Rib Room. Only one complaint - tempura prawns were breaded and waffles at breakfast were overcooked.
We were part of a large group of people who, following a funeral, attended the Ramside for a carvery. The food was very good and considering the number of guests and the short period in which we arrived the service was excellent. Tables were efficiently and quickly cleared of plates as meals were finished and staff were pleasant and friendly. A lot has changed at the Ramside since our wedding reception there in 1980. Along with the decor in the carvery we may be tiring a little though.
Always a luxurious treat .. especially the spa facilities.. the twilight session was busy , I struggled to find a hydro spot and lounger.. Also alcohol fuelled men were quite boisterous.. sanctuary outside in the wellness pool. Treatment was amazing by friendly professional staff.. Food was good at the fusion restaurant, and staff were good. Carol singers in the bar afterwards were atmospheric and wonderful.. Thoroughly recommend.
I had the pleasure of experiencing the afternoon tea at Ramside Hall and I must say, it was absolutely delicious. From the moment I arrived, the service and surroundings were first class. The staff were attentive and friendly, making me feel welcomed and relaxed. The afternoon tea itself was a feast for the senses. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty, with a range of fillings to suit all tastes. The scones were warm and fluffy, served with lashings of jam and cream. The cakes were beautifully presented and tasted divine, with a good balance of sweetness and richness. The surroundings were elegant and refined, with beautiful décor and comfortable seating. The ambiance was calm and tranquil, making it the perfect setting for a relaxing afternoon tea. Overall, I highly recommend Ramside Hall for their afternoon tea. The food was exceptional, the service was impeccable and the surroundings were simply stunning. It's the perfect spot for a special occasion or a treat for yourself.
Rare 5 Star!! Treating my wife for her 40th birthday we did the Spa overnight stay, 60 minute massage which was utterly amazing, evening meal in Fusion restaurant where the food was just PERFECT!! Spa facilities were excellent as were the staff even bringing us hot chocolate to the outdoor hot tub Will definitely be going again!!! Rooms: Amazing room, huge bathroom, huge bed, great views, traditional feel but had everything you'd possibly need. Food & drinks: Fusion restaurant was great, every dish we sampled was spot on, staff couldn't be more friendly too.
Christmas Party night in the Ballroom as part of a work's night out. Live band was good, not enough bar staff, too many people crammed in,meal was bare minimum. I expect at least more than one carrot and gravy for £45 a head! No choice of dessert or offered tea or coffee. Christmas rip off, never again.
