Certainly not the best curry I have experienced. Slightly over done with the chili and not the most flavoursome sauce. We had a large group of 15 which even though we were sat on two large tables they split the orders and timing. It toon between 1 1/2 to 2 hours for all of us to have our food. A very long time. I don't think they can cope with larger groups. We had some poppadoms starterS with the usual dips. All good except the mango chutney. It was runny as if it had been watered down. The mains were OK but I have much better curries from other restaurants. Staff were friendly and were working hard but communication on the waiting times were not great. Overall it was an OK experience, I don't think I would go back personally. Maybe it was the curry I chose that night and being a large group that didn't help.
Great for vegans! Large vegan menu and lovely service. There's also a 25% discount if you order to take away and food is always ready on time Would recommend the tikka masala and peshwari naan.
Really great experience. Extensive vegan/plant-based menu with a wide selection of vegetable and meat-replacement dishes, as well as starters and sides. Best selection we have found. Food was really lovely- fresh and tasty. Service was outstanding; our waiter was attentive and friendly. Will definitely be returning. Would recommend to anyone, especially vegans!
Dined here whilst on business in Bristol, reputation looked good and was busy so looked a good choice. 30 minutes wait for a table, no problem we had a drink across the road and returned. Wish we hadn't. Not enough staff, waited about 20 mins for poppadoms to come out which we had to chase up, we then ordered a selection of starters and curries with sides. Bhajis were really oily and not very tasty, curry was greasy and not great flavour as expected in an authentic Indian restaurant. Service was friendly enough but they were overrun sadly. Topped off when one of our group was sick upon returning to our hotel. Service saved a couple stars just think they need to recruit a couple more waiting staff.
Had dinner at the Raj last night with work colleagues and all experienced great food, good service and some good old fashioned honesty thrown in. The food was well spiced and tasted great. Leaving my phone on the table was not my best move but after what seemed like a very long wait <24hrs I returned to not only find it was being safely stored but also that they ensured it still had some charge. I would highly recommend Raj for a mid week curry following a few beers in the King Street pubs.
Good indian restaurant. It is located in basement so the atmosphere was comfortable and the heater was also working. Nice bollywood music in background. Waiting time was more, I was told to wait for 5 minutes, but it took half an hour to get the table.Food: 5/5
Bristol city is a commercial mosh pit of restaurants that can make you feel on a conveyor belt. Not the Raj ! Great food and service in a relaxed atmosphere. The basement feel makes it a unique experience away from the frantic pace of the city outside. I don’t have many favourite things about Bristol, however this is one of them.
Really good food and lovely service...the staff were great! Me and my partner have been here twice in the last week just so we could try more options, and we had such a good experience the first time. Would highly recommend...especially if you are vegan as they have a larger plant-based menu with many options. Vegetarian options: Lots of vege options plus a large plant-based menu!
A small boutique Indian restaurant hidden away. Service was excellent. Food was amazing. We visit Bristol most Decembers and by chance found this little gem. We will make sure this is always on our itinerary. Vegetarian options: Loads of vegetarian options. We are vegetarian. Kid-friendliness: Both our children under the age of 10 years loved the food. Dietary restrictions: Will cater for vegans.
Quality food matched with quality service. I came to Raj restaurant under the weekday treatcard 2 4 1 deal. It was a birthday meal so I had a cake brought to the venue. The team were excellent in dealing with my requests as I came to Raj's early to drop off the cake, it had been messed up during transit. They allowed me to make adjustments to it with whatever tools I needed. The staff were friendly and attentive. I'd definitely recommend.
