A huge thank you to the two staff members who helped my husband and I on reaching Neath from our cruise. The first member of staff even remembered that we has booked for assistance but we had had to change our plans. The female staff member also helped us get a taxi. After a long journey it was great to be back in Neath and given such kind and helpful support. I don't normally write reviews but thank you both.
Thanks to Matthew today at Neath Train Station for making my trip earlier. The lift was broken and as a wheelchair user I had to go around the back of the station. I couldn't order my ticket as there was a long queue and 10mins to the train, he took it upon himself and take my place in the queue and met me on the other side with the ticket. Excellent staff member, thank you!!!
Not great for parking unless you go to Morrisons. Not as many shops as thete used to be
Small train station with a waiting area, service desk and toilets. I have found the lifts don't work you can go up on the lifts from one side but they don't work the other side the lifts are smelling of pee and covered in rubbish. There is often a lot of people who hang about by the lifts that can make you feel intimidated. If it's easier you can walk the long way around to avoid the lift and bridges when you have a pram or don't feel comfortable going over the bridge. There is someone there to help with a pram if you need to get on or off the train which is brilliant. The toilets may look awful on the outside but you would be pleasantly surprised by how clean and tidy they look on the inside.
Fantastic staff, especially the young lady and the gentleman on duty Tuesday morning. So friendly and helpful.
On Tuesday there was trains cancelled so my disabled mother decided to wait in the snack cafe as she has a bad foot and bad back, meaning standing for long periods of time is very painful. After being sat down for no more than 5 minutes, a old short fat women working in the cafe decided to chuck out my disabled mother along with an elderly couple, both using walking sticks to assist with walking, meaning they had to stand for over 2 hours in order to wait for a replacement train. Unacceptable.
Customer service is terrible , and given the cost of travelling on this Victorian era train service makes my blood boil. The self service ticket machine was offline, the woman on counter service had literally just closed the shutter, I knocked on the window and asked for her help and she refused, what a poor way to treat a customer, but they know you have no alternative. Disgusted and shocked at such poor service , Neath train staff you should be ashamed, I would be, let’s hope you never need my help. Pathetic people
Staff are very helpful and trains are normally on time. Plenty of seating area for people waiting for their trains. The station houses two cafes and staff are pleasant at both cafes
I was fitted with a new hip in November 2014. I am now able to go upstairs at home and other places without any aid. I travelled from Neath to Cardiff on 9.25 departure from Neath. I had to be helped on to the train by another passenger as the "step" on the train was so high, even with passenger help, I still found it difficult to get onto the train. I will be travelling by bus from now on as every bus I have travelled on has been adjusted for easy access. When I questioned the lady who was checking tickets, I was informed that access to trains differ, some being lower that one I travelled on but others are even higher. I am at a loss to understand the reason for making access to trains so difficult.
It was wet and cold but I can tell it has potential, I think it going to be beautiful in the summer all the small markets and shopping look perfect for Instagram.
