Dalmally accomodation was the perfect way to end our NC500 drive we went anti-clockwise. On arrival there was a pot of tea waiting for us and Graham and Marianne were the most gracious and welcoming hosts. In terms of accommodation, our room was clean, warm and comfortable. It also had an ensuite toilet and the seating area outside added a really nice touch from which to enjoy the uniqueness of the property. We did not mind the shared shower at end of the platform or the fact it was a still working train station; in fact we thought it added to the character of the property. All in all we really loved our stay here. We have been recommending it to everyone and would love to re-visit again some day.
Picturesque station near, well, not much :- Seriously, it's in Dalmally, which is *wee*. That said, if this is where you're heading, or you're here, and need to get on the train, well, this station is it! It really is mighty picturesque - it's in the southern highlands, the green-gray mountains are all around, loch awe and loch lomond are nearby, and verdancy is everywhere!
Dalmally Station Airbnb, and in particular, the hosts, Liz and Graham were one of the highlights of our full month tour of Scotland and Ireland in 2019. Right from the start, Liz and Graham had us in awe with their special brand of hospitality, and ample tour information. The station rooms, now guest suites, are tastefully refurbished from a bygone era of: baggage room, radio room, and other extinct railroading uses. Liz also has a brilliant hobby room filled with beautiful tweeds and woolen goods. We sat down that after a fun filled day in Oban, with the hosts and sampled an assortment of local highland single malt beverages. In retrospect, a two night's stay was not enough to explore the area. We will go back someday, when the world is feeling better, and we can all breathe again.
Great place to stay over. Nice views, peaceful sitting on the platform having a drink.
Really cute station with lots of antique memorabilia and statues of animals to look at while waiting for your train. Surrounded by trees and hills. Beautiful.
