Well we were looking at reviews of here and they were good but a bit dated which I didn't notice until we got there. So it ends up today was the reopening of the pub for food as the previous chef had left. We chose for the three course meal and tea and coffee was included. We chose different staters, pate, prawns and onion soup. The roast beef was what we chose each. It wasn't bad beef but there wasn't much of it and I felt for the money we could have had a bit more beef. The online menu described this 8 hour slow cooked beef and this is a limited menu due to the chef change. The vegetables were over cooked, the potatoes could have been cooked much longer roasted until they were crispy but they weren't. The mash was nice. The desserts were funny, small in size, ice cream lovely but the cheese board was really big. Anyway would we go back, honestly no. Is it bad no, worth the money not really, the staff were nice but when it got busier they seemed overwhelmed. If you found my review helpful please press like. Thank you Parking: Parking is next to the pub, plenty of space and close by. Wheelchair accessibility: The main door is ground level and you can enter no problem at all.
Cream of Mushroom soup with Truffle oil, not always a lover of Truffle oil..but..it was amazing on this lovely Mushroom soup. We had a great night and all meals were well cooked and tasted excellant. I had heard the food was good and we were.not disappointed. We'll be returning!
What a absolute gem this place is. Took my girlfriend and her mum here for their birthdays and the food was simple yet delicious. The belly of pork was fantastic and the Aloo curry with halloumi cheese was lovely aswell. For me though the bee sting dessert was stunning. Will definitely be returning again!!
Not what it used to be I'm afraid. This used to be a favourite for us for special occasions but we had dinner here this evening with a friend and were disappointed with the experience. The restaurant no longer has a cosy feel, the staff were attentive and friendly but the menu choices were limited and the food was very basic. Lovely good value bottle of sauvignon blanc was the best part. I'm afraid we won't be returning until we hear better reports of this restaurant.
Highly recommended We visited on 03-06-22 for a late lunch and thoroughly enjoyed. The premises are gorgeous and immaculately clean, airy and well laid out. Our waitress Victoria was a joy and our food was served with perfect timings in between courses. The food was delicious with home made sauces, plentiful and high quality ingredients. We’ll definitely be returning!
Well maintained pub, super attentive staff, good local ale on tap. We went both in the week and for Sunday lunch. The Sunday lunch was really tasty so if you have the choice would personally go then. Parking around back. Dog friendly.
It seems such a shame that a gastro pub of this quality can't get enough staff to fill all the seats. As a lunch time walk in with plenty of empty tables we were lucky to be accommodated, unlike later potential guests. However, the food was fantastic, delicious belly pork and a pie of the day. Next time I'll book and hope there will be enough un-lock down staff
Lovely old building. The food was fantastic and nice portions. Service was fast and friendly. The gnocchi was superb and the belly pork with mustard mash and red cabbage was fantastic. Will definitely eat here again.
We were impressed by the friendly welcome that the owners provided. Our meals were well cooked, and delicious. The only slight issue was Covid safety, in that the window could not be opened, due to its heritage status, i.e. very old. The owner wore a mask throughout, which was reassuring.
We went for Sunday lunch with our two young and "energetic" kids and the friendly, attentive service was fantastic. They accommodated our dairy-free requests and made the kids feel welcome. The rib of beef was outstanding, as were the starters. The kids' meals were well sized and just right. Good beer / wine. Overall, great value for money. Especially compared to back home in London. We would highly recommend and can't thank the staff enough for making us feel very welcome.
